Wilton Icing Colors 1 Oz: BurgundyI have used this coloring several times and always end up with a weird purple fondant instead. I even have a hard time making gray. You could use the method of mixing the dye to the melted marshmellows or using dark modeling chocolate with it to give it a base (Google: How to make Black Fondant) but from what I've read Americolor has a better black dye. I use Wilton products all the time but this one is a dud.

I just finished making a huge batch of buttercream frosting using my typical recipe, I tasted the untinted version and was satisfied. Unfortunately for me I did not do a small test amount before applying this Christmas Red to the entire batch it has completely spoilt the frosting, leaving it with a harsh, very unpleasant after taste. I have purchased cakes from Costco in the past and have learned to avoid anything that has red frosting as I get the exact same taste. I also did not find this to be anywhere close to a Christmas red, perhaps I did not use enough, but given the resulting taste having only achieved a pinkish red, I can only imagine what a horrible tasting mess you would be left with if you tried to achieve a real red my frosting ended up being inedible!

Ok, I haven't used this for icing, I don't bake a lot, don't really have the time, but with the experiences I've had, I'd use it in a heartbeat for icing. I have been highlighting my hair to get some blonde in it, my hair is naturally medium brown. I have a lot of brassiness and was using purple toning shampoo, but it got to be too expensive for me and was not moisturizing enough. I read online that I could make my own using food coloring and a good shampoo, so I bought the cheapie 4 pack of liquid from a local grocery store, and it was a pain in the butt to create the purple I needed, and my shampoo was then greatly diluted. I ended up finding some of this at a local store (it was less expensive at the store, but didn't have as many colors as Amazon), and such a small amount mixed with my shampoo and conditioner produced the color I was looking for and my shampoo still had a creamy consistency. This has been working great for me in my shampoo. I love that I can get a deep, rich color with just a little bit of this.

I gave it a 4, since I've never used it yet for its intended purpose, and I can't say how well it performs in food items. But now, when I do bake, I don't think I'll ever use the liquid stuff again, this stuff is so concentrated and really doesn't water down anything.

All three are made with olive oil, so I suppose they are more healthful than most cookies. They do not taste like olives any more than ordinary cookies taste like corn or soybeans. They are small like vanilla wafers but kind of hard, like pfeffernuesse. You wouldn't just put them in a disk of ice cream: you can't break them with a spoon. If someone stabs them, they might shoot out of the dish. But they are chewy and fun and might be served as finger food with tea, coffee, or cheese.

The plain variety have a mild nuttiness from sesame. The orange ones have a delicate fragrance, are not orangey or acidic, and are good with tea. The grape ones are my favorite and taste like raisins rather than grapes. The grape syrup has oxidized in baking and makes them brown. Their dark flavor reminds me of ginger snaps.

They stay fresh for more than a week after opening the container. I keep a box in my office and nibble a few when I must miss a meal. Three cookies have 130 calories, slightly less than a slice of bread with a pat of butter.

Most NA wines are too sweet but Ariel is an exception. Ariel reds and whites have a dry complexity lacking in other brands. The docs have given me the OK to drink regular wine again but at this point I can't handle the brutal overwhelming flavor of alcohol in regular beer and wine. My advice, you will not find it an easy transition to NA beer and wine but a worthwhile one if you can stay with it dispite the incovience.

It is not something which I would have been proud of purchasing for myself. And I really would not have wanted to serve it to others.

We got some of the Rossi Pasta as a gift from a friend in Cincinnati, and I think it was this very basket or one very similar, i think perhaps ours didn't have the sauce. The pasta is more important. Prepared dry pasta is something that rarely seems to be that special. This Rossi pasta was a big exception, with a truly deep tonguepalpable flavor seemingly with gorgeous texture. It was not too delicate either, which can mean fussy to prepare. I thought we had finished all of it, and then we just one one left in the cabinet, and my heart leapt, 'cause we will get to eat it this week! That showed me just how much I actually liked it. It is so good that we are thinking of ordering it ourselves, it was so good.

It has a nice texture and a nice taste once you prepare it. When I make my recipe for fried rice from my copy of "Joy of Cooking," this is my most often used selection of rice. The end result is tasty! As I pour my stir fry over the fried rice, a delicious meal (well, normally) results. But a good rice base is necessary for a successful stir fry. That combination of vegetables, sauce, some sort of meat (normally chicken), and fried rice does the trick!

I also use this rice when I use my slow cooker. It is useful to have some sort of base to absorb the excess liquid from the slow cooking process. Rice does the job very well--and this is one of the rices that I depend on when doling out the crock pot dish into the serving dish for my family. Yummy!

All in all, then, this is a useful product for those who enjoy using rice in their cooking adventures!

This rice is so delicious. You wouldn't think there could be so much difference between different brands of rice but there is. This rice really stands out for taste and texture. We use it for saffron rice and red beans and rice and other meals that this sort of rice is good for. I haven't tried their other rices but intend to.

This IS really great rice. RiceSelect makes a wide variety of great rices and the jar is especially convenient for keeping the rice fresh. I personally use jasmine rice of all the types most frequently and even love to mix it with my own choice of other grains--red quinoa,wild rice, etc. I generally find Amazon to have some of the best prices for many items, but this price is a few dimes more than the local grocery carries it for, and I don't have to buy it in bulk there. I'm not real sure what the motivation would be for buying it from Amazon.

Winexpert produces several different series of wine kits. Their Eclipse and Selection International series are their more expensive kits, while the Vintner's Reserve series are more reasonable. Nevertheless, all their kits are excellent. Although their more expensive series make the best wines (as one would hope), the wines in their Vintner's Reserve series are still great. The kits in this series are priced in the $60 range. Since each kit makes approximately 30 750ML bottles, this works out to not much more than two dollars a bottle. That's a great bargain for a very good wine.

I made the Vintner's Reserve Shiraz some time ago. It's an excellent, full-bodied wine, with a spicy fruitiness that is pleasant to the taste. Although it begins to develop within three months of bottling, new overtones come out with further aging. I would suggest aging for as much as a year to allow the wine to develop fully.

Like all Winexpert kits, the Shiraz comes with easy-to-follow instructions. The process from initial mixing to bottling takes approximately six weeks. I find that the total time I spend producing wine from one of these kits is three to four hours. Making excellent wine doesn't need to be time-consuming.

When I was growing up, medium-sized bottles of herring in sour cream were a staple. I was was aware of herring in wine sauce....but my parents never bought it. I have searched for herring in sour cream here on Amazon, to no success as yet. However, I DID find these BAR HARBOR WILD HERRING FILLETS IN CABERNET WINE SAUCE here on Amazon, and decided to try them.

I never knew that herring was such a dry fish! The wine sauce inside the can is plentiful -but it still doesn't take away all of the dryness. There is a goodly amount of wine sauce -but not so much that it will spill out of the can when opened. If you are careful opening the can, spilling of the wine sauce IS preventable. (It's a little difficult for me, at least, to open the can by the pull-tab. So far, I have had four of the twelve cans in the shipment -and had to use a can-opener to open each one.)

The good news about the sauce, aside from it's delicious taste, is that it has enough time, in the the can, to permeate the fish, with some of the sauce still left over. As I have mentioned, the sauce doesn't take away ALL the dryness -but it does take a bit away, and so the over-abundance of wine sauce IS a good idea. A doubly-good idea, I think, is to DRAIN the sauce which has not permeated the fish, (before eating the fish), into a small container, and keep it in the refrigerator. Then, you can use it for various other things -such as adding it to tuna fish, as I have done. Then, the tuna becomes tastier, and you can leave out the mayonnaise, (which is mostly oil anyway), and get a richer tuna flavour, possibly with fewer calories!

These "Bar Harbor Herring Filets in Cabernet Wine Sauce" have the OU stamp of approval from the Orthodox (Jewish) Union, so preumably the cabernet wine, (listed in the next-to-the-last position in the ingredients), is KOSHER caberbet wine -although the word "kosher" is not found in front of this ingredient.

This product is "sustainably harvested from the clear cold waters of the Gulf of Maine". It is also stated that it is a "Product of Canada". On the back of the cardboard sleeve encasing each tin, it is stated: "Produced in Canada, for Bar Harbor Foods, Whiting Maine, 04691 USA....." This may confuse some people, (it confuses me a lot)...but I prefer to consider it a happy product, jointly produced by two of the greatest countries in the world! Whatever you may think of my opinion, you must admit that it's nice to find a product produced ANYWHERE else than in China, these days!

Eating four cans of these herring fillets, (6.7 ounces, 190 grams each), in two days,says I like them -and I do. They even have a

slight, very tasty smoky flavour -without any liquid smoke listed amongst the ingredients! (As liquid smoke -along with, (darn!), so many other things that taste SO good -is rumoured to be cancer-causing, this is certainly a good thing!) But the fish is, as I have said, semi-dry....in spite of the wine sauce in which the fish comes, and in which it is saturated. These fillets in cabernet wine sauce ARE delicious -but I do wish I could also find herring fillets in sour cream, that I grew up with. A different flavour, and not, perhaps to everyone's taste -but at least herring fillets in sour cream are NOT at all dry.

I'm not a big fan of flatbread but I have been on a diet and decided to give this a try. I have to say, wow. I've been topping them and using it as a snack in place of lunch. The other guy that works in my office, who isn't dieting, tried them and was impressed by the taste but I finally had to tell him to back off. He started ripping through them so I think that pretty much explains how well the product tastes. The flavor can support itself as a standalone snack but again, I top them and just love it.

Unless you are someone who can *only* eat really dark chocolate (which I also truly love) this is the most amazing chocolate you can possibly buy. Every person I have seen eat them literally closes their eyes in a look of rapture and sighs. It is rich, it is sweet, it is chocolate heaven. I promise that if you try some as your recipient opens it . . . you'll regret not getting yourself a box as well. ;)

As a side note, if you ARE someone who really needs dark chocolate, the best I have ever eaten is Green & Black's Single Bar Organic Dark 85%. I don't know what makes it so much better than everyone else's, but it is to die for. Keep in mind that it is REALLY dark and not that sweet. :)

Trader Joe's Gourmet Orange Muscat Champagne VinegarI bought this product having no idea what it was or how it tasted. I was searching for something with a hint of orange to make homemade salad dressings this was part of the search. I have no regret buying it, except for the fact I can't get enough! I blended it with some mandarin oranges, olive oil, cilantro, and an Agave nectar stick . . . . . YUM. Great on baby lettuce with goat cheese, dried cranberries, crushed walnuts and mandarin oranges slices on top!! I also made a chicken wardolf salad with a tablespoon of the above dressing added to some mayonnaise. Find a store near you.

I had this on my shelf unopened for several months, picked up on a whim and forgotten until snowstorm food became boring. By itself on lettuce, arugula, green beans, sprinkled on the Rancho Gordo heirloom beans. Makes a simple salad or veggie dish a refreshing experience. Like most quality foods, you do not need as much and you are satisfied after eating them. I am a quality over quantity cook.

I love this vinegar. I use it for salad dressing and as a marinade. It is delicious and such a good value. I haven't bought a commercial salad dressing in years. Why eat junk when you can have freshly made dressing in a minute? Equal parts of TJ orange muscat champagne vinegar, OJ and canola oil. OMG.
