Kasugai - Roasted Wasabi Hot Green Peas (4.3 Oz - 1 Lb)

Taiwan Roasted Wasabi Hot Green Peas - 8.24 Oz - Starch Free, Wheat Flour FreeI wanted to try one bag 1st. I eat sushi and thought I would try this product for a little dose of wasabi on my days off. It gives a blast of taste and then it is over. It is not over whelmingly hot, but nice. I was happy to see there was no trans fat in the product. My friend from Oklahoma said she liked these, but I could not find them. Someone from Japan gave them to her. She is really picky, so I thought if she liked them they must be great. She is not really very experimental and I love all kinds of things. I like them. They are good. I like them better than some of the more expesive wasabi snack products I have tried from eden foods. I like the pea form. These peas are addictive. When I ran out I thought I was going into shock. I kept craving them. I buy more now that I like them.

The product is excellent. Tasty, crunchy, hot as wasabi can be,but the hotness desappears just in time to grab another handfull. People who like Japanese food will certainly enjoy to nibble Kasugai.

I have eaten many pounds of these peas and they are the BEST! I have also tried several other brandsthey can't compete with the genuine Kasugai brand. Target's are horridburnt until browish, wasabi falls off and lousy flavor, taste burnt and wasabi tastes like American Horseradish, it probably is. Sun-Luck's have a strong Nutra-Sweet flavor, e Kusugai have a nice roasted pea flavor and a real nice wasabi *bang*!! that quickly fades, leaving you none the worst for wear and wanting more. Honestly, I have tried about 5-6 different brands and none of them can compete. Grab a bag and get hooked-

Well. There must be some reason why you want to buy comparatively expensive wasabi peas. A longing for a specific "taste" of Taiwanese style peas, the need/desire to have a gluten free snack. So, I'm going to assume that you've already assessed how much these peas are worth to you...and are seriously thinking about buying them anyway.

These peas do the job. They are good quality peas. Crunchy. The wasabi flavor is good...a nice bite, but not too much. And they are visually appealing. Its not a huge amount...there are "30 packets", but those packets are small--like airline peanuts small. So, they are best savored rather than gobbled!

*The basic ingredients list is in English, but there is no English information about cross-contamination, etc...so if you have actual celiac disease and don't read Chinese, this is probably not the product for you. But if you just want something that is wheat free, these are great!

Reserve Du Chateau 6 Week Wine Kit, California Coastal Cabernet Sauvignon, 55-Pound Container

Reserve Du Chateau 6 Week Wine Kit, California Coastal Cabernet Sauvignon, 55-Pound ContainerI've been making wine from kits for almost 10 years now and these kits are very nice. With the discount for "Subscribe and Save" you can't beat them. I've purchased several of them now and have had no problems at all. They come complete with real corks, labels, and foil caps packed into a plastic bucket. Note: The bucket is not a food grade container and can't be used as a fermenter so don't make that assumption. I'm sure they only ship in a bucket because if they shipped in a box they would get destroyed due to the weight. Great kits and a great deal.

I started this kit almost exactly 1 year ago. 8 weeks then into the bottle. I wasn't crazy about it when I tried it a few months later, bottle shock most likely. We opened a bottle of this a few months ago and it was coming along nicely. We opened a bottle last night and still more improvement. I am very pleased and am going to do this again. I will say I checked SG and based on the range that was specified in the instructions, I chaptized with 2 cups of sugar according to my notes. Otherwise I followed the instructions.

In a general way I think all wine kit manufacturers fudge the imaginary speed with which their products can be ready to serve to guests. And the universal fault of new wine makers is impatience.

I've been making wine for 3 years now & begin to have a decent reputation among friends. I offer the following advice in hopes that more experienced wine makers will add to or correct it. And hope beginners will find it helpful.

Wine making is insanely easy! You just buy the best juice you can afford and ferment it without contaminating it. But the cardinal sin is to drink it too soon. According to my brief experience the following are apropriate:

Apple wine bottle between 1-3 months after start of fermentation & age 6 months more before drinking.

Cherry blueberry elderberry etc. bottle @ 6-9 months and begin to consume after 1 year.

"4week" white wine kits purchase at a discount & pour directly into sink as they're unfit for decent people.

"6 & 8 week" white wine kits bottle at 3-4 months and begin to consume after 1 year. These can be good.

"4 week" red wine kits bottle at 6 months and begin to consume after 1 year.

"6 & 8 week" red wine kits The Best! Bottle at 1 year. Set aside in a cool place for another year. Tell your lazy son to stay out of it. Then slowly begin to enjoy.

Someone with 10 years or more experience please chime in!

I purchased this kit for my husband, who is an amateur wine maker. The instructions were easy to follow and the resulting wine is better than those we have purchased at local wineries. As it ages, we expect it to get even better.

So far, so good.

The kit was complete and easy. I have used hundreds of kits. I am expecting this to be the best, due to it being pure must. The fermentation was thorough. I have a few more weeks to go before bottling and about six months before drinking. I have great expectations.

The delivery and care of the company was exceptional.

Eden Foods Mirin, Rice Cooking Wine, 10.50-Ounce

Eden Foods Mirin, Rice Cooking Wine, 10.50-OunceI do a lot of wok cooking and I use this mirin as one of several ingredients when I marinade flank steak. I've tried other types of wine, but find I prefer this one. The difference in flavor is noticeable. I only use about a splash or two at a time on (at most) a pound of meat. And I use the marinade in the cooking as well. At that rate, the bottle is good for a fair amount of meals.

This is a great Mirin, but I wish it was a little cheaper. Taste is very good and makes good sauces.

Okay, decent drinking wines are $20 for larger bottles! What gives? And don't tell me it's because it's organic and because it's for Japanese cooking. This is the USA where people cook all kinds of ethnic food and they use lots of mirin, when they can find it. Btw you can find this exact bottle of Eden Mirin for 1/2 this price and free shipping, elsewhere.

Vino Italiano 4 Week Wine Kit, Chardonnay, 15.5-Pound Box

Vino Italiano 4 Week Wine Kit, Chardonnay, 15.5-Pound BoxI was pleasantly surprised by this kit.. I made it to the directions, but added 2 oak spirals (purchased seperately) during fermentation. For some reason, this wine took more time to ferment than the directions stated, which is why I always go by hydrometer readings and not the "guidelines" in the directions. This posed no problem for me as it gave the wine longer to extract flavor from the oak.. My kit took just over 6 weeks from yeast pitch to bottle. Fermentation alone took 4 weeks. This is also the only kit I ever made using tap water, so that "may" have affected fermentation..

All in all, this wine is a winner to me, and everyone who has tried it has given it a thumbs up. The oak gave it the soft buttery and vanilla flavors which I have always loved in a Chard.. If you are not a fan of oaky Chards, and decide to make this, please post your results without using oak. I am interested to see if the oak added significantly more character to this wine or not. For the money, I think this is a steal!! Especially since it comes with corks, shrink capsules and labels!!!

I will definatley be ordering this kit regularly, and already have orders for more bottles!!

I also modified the kit instructions. I hydrated the yeast, however, the instructions said that you could do this as an alternative to using the yeast sprinkling method. My SG at start was 1.08. The first fermentation ended on day 11. After racking, I added toasted oak chips. I racked the wine again on Day 21 when the SG was .990, and again on Day 23 due to the amount of ugly sediment that was forming quickly at the bottom (and I was going on a business trip). The wine at this point was extremely cloudy, and tasted and smelled horrible. The alcohol tasted very strong and I thought that the alcohol content was way too high. I then removed the oak chips and added the gels. The wine cleared within a couple of days and seemed to darken a bit over the next week. I racked the wine again on Day 33, crossed my fingers and tasted the wine. I was shocked that it tasted good but I wish that it had more body and had more oak flavor and had more body. I have not bottled the wine yet but am thinking of adding more oak and bulk aging the wine a bit longer. Note that I am probably at 20 liters but I am not adding water or wine, but am spraying inert gas (Wine Preserve) into the carboy whenever I lift the airlock.

I like a very oak flavored Chardonnay and this kit contains no oak. That is the only reason that I am ranking this kit as a 4 star instead of a 5. I hope that Amazon continues to sell Vino Italiano kits. I would to try out the red and see how they compare to the much more expensive Vino del Vido and Mosti Mondial red wines that I have made.

Based on my results thus far, I would recommend this kit. I will add more information to this review if I am able to later.

Update June, 2011: Just opened one of my last bottles. It keeps getting better. Very smooth, very good flavor. I am ordering another kit.

This kit makes a very nice chardonnay with some adjustments. First, be careful and use a hydrometer when you make up the wine to volume. My kit made 20.5 Liters at 1.090 instead of 23. In fairness, the kit says it makes 23 L at 1.075 to 1.090. I opted for reduced volume in lieu of diluted wine.

Secondly, the kit does not contain yeast starter nutrients and the kit instructions have you just sprinkle the dry yeast into the wine must. That's really not a good idea! I bought some GoFerm for rehydrating the yeast and some Fermaid K yeast nutrient to add during the fermentation. Rehydrated the yeast by sprinkling it into 6 grams of GoFerm suspended in 4 oz of water. After 30 min, I added 4 oz of white grape juice (no preservatives) to let the yeast start their metabolism. After 6 hours, I added another 8 oz of grape juice and let the yeast grow overnight. Used this starter culture to innoculate the wine kit must. Added 3 grams of Fermaid K nutrient on the first day after pitching the yeast and 3 more grams when the must had fermented down to about 1.060 specific gravity.

With those modifications and with some attention to the details of aeration and stirring, the kit makes a very good chardonnay. I'll give it 4 stars because the quality of components makes such good wine. However, if you just follow the kit instructions and sprinkle the dry yeast directly into the fermentation vessel, you run the risk of a very slow start and increased risk of contamination. If you don't add any yeast nutrients, you risk having stalled fermentation somewhere along the way. The yeast nutrients are cheap; they should be in the kit!

First, a disclaimer for those looking at wine kits who aren't familiar with them; this is *not* absolutely everything you will need to make wine kit, but it does have just about all of the disposable items you'll need other than bottles. If you don't own any wine making equipment, you will want to get a fermenter, a carboy and... well, you'll need to get a STARTER kit. This has just about everything someone who has already been making wine will need, except for the bottles... and if you're like me you'll just save your bottles anyway to sanitize and reuse them.

That said, wow. It did have everything I needed. It included the corks I'd need for my bottles, the Chardonnay bottle labels as well as a bottle sealer that I found extremely cool but had not used before. The yeast (Lalvin-1118) is my go-to yeast when I make mead or hard cider and it worked well here. It will tend to leave a dry wine, but then you can backsweeten it if you want... but with a chardonnay, you'll probably want to leave it dry. I used the same fermenter, carboy, tubing, etc. that I use whenever I make my adult beverages, but the kit completely covered me for all of the "consumables" that I would otherwise have possibly bought, even including some clarifiers I hadn't used before but I will be using again.

I ordered this back in September in order to make this batch for some chardonnay lovers in my family for Christmas and I did the final bottling yesterday... I am not a big chardonnay fan personally (I like sweeter wines myself) but even I enjoyed the final product. The only thing I added which was not in the kit was oak chips (available here or at your local brewing supply store) to give it an oak flavor, but that's certainly not necessary.

This is my first Vino Italiano kit -as I said above, I normally make mead or hard cider so I don't have a lot of experience with wine kits, but I will definitely be trying other Vino Italiano varieties for some of the sweeter wines that I do like... Yes, most kits cost more, but this is a case where I feel like I'm getting more than I paid for. Highly recommended for fans of chardonnay who already have a wine making starter kit and 30 or so 750ml wine bottles they can use. :)

This is my 9th kit of Vino Italiano Wine.I make it to 6 gal. and add 3 cups of simple syrup, (just heat water and add sugar)at the beginning fermentation. This will make the wines abv about 12% .Each pound of sugar raises the abv about 1%. Make sure to use quality water like bottled spring water, not tap or well water. I also added 2 cans of white grape juice for extra body,The directions are easy to follow..It also gets a little better after being in the bottle for a month or two.The Vino Italiano wines at amazon are very good too for a regular non fruit wine.Great value with corks and labels and hats.I also don't put labels on all the bottles unless i'm giving them away, too much work to clean them off next time, just use a little adhesive tag to label them.I highly recommend these wines, and its fun to experiment with different techniques that you read other people tried. Enjoy, but remember, its addictive.

Ortiz Atun Claro: Yellowfin Tuna in Olive Oil (7.8 ounce)

Ortiz Atun Claro: Yellowfin Tuna in Olive OilWhen I want to treat myself this is one of the handful of ways I do so. I normally purchase Ortiz White Tuna in Olive Oil Tin, 92-Grams (Pack of 5) for everyday use, but for special occasions this is how I pamper myself.

The quality of both the tuna and the olive oil are amazing. There are many ways of serving it, but one of my favorites is with sliced, vine-ripened tomatoes, red onion, capers and jalapenos, then drizzled with extra virgin olive oil and seasoned with Herbes de Provence Provence Herb 8 oz.. I uploaded a customer-supplied image of just such a dish.

Another use is to top a paella with this tuna. Or serve it with a stuffed avocado. The possibilities are endless. This is not something I would waste on a sandwich, but for those times when you just want to treat or pamper yourself or someone special, this should do the trick.

Lea and Perrins Worcestershire For Chicken

Lea and Perrins Worcestershire For Chicken
  • Juicier, tastier chicken without compromise !!
  • Made with white wine to penetrate & tenderize.
  • Since 1835, LEA & PERRINS has been the only truly authentic brand of Worcestershire Sauce.

This stuff is so good I can't understand why our stores in the Wash metro area stopped carrying it. I use it for marinade for fish and chicken. The finished product tastes like a professional chef cooked the food. I will always have at least 2 bottles in the house.

Buy Lea and Perrins Worcestershire For Chicken Now

Several years ago I used to buy Lea & Perrins White Wine Worcestershire Sauce all the time. It was simply the best way to cook chicken--add some potatoes, onions and mushrooms (sometimes peas or green beans) and it cooked up the easiest but elegant dinner. Then without warning, my store stopped carrying it. It wasn't listed on the Lea & Perrins site. It was just gone. I was thinking about chicken recipes today and on an off-chance googled white wine Worcestershire and this page came up. I am happy to see its made again! Its even back on Lea & Perrins website. Still can't buy it in the stores but ordering it here is the next best thing. There truly is not anything better on the market (trust me I looked for a good substitute...)

Glad its back...now to get it back on the grocery shelves.

I am dissappointed that I cannot purchase this item at the grocery store like I used to! The cost of shipping to me makes purchasing any more of these bottles prohibitive and so I will not do it. Not until I need a fix or can figure out how to make my own! I use it in many recipes and found that it was gone quickly, I will miss it.

I had never heard of this before. When my parents passed recently, I moved back into the house that I grew up in.

I came across an old bottle of this in the fridge. Obviously there for years. Knowing my parents, it could have been 10 plus years old. No dates anywhere on the bottle or faded & torn label. Eventually, curiosity got the best of me & the risk of getting sick from eating something I had no idea how old it was fell to the wayside. I tried it. Much to surprise, this was the best tasting marinade or sauce I had ever had. Unfortunately, I couldn't seem to find it any where in the Los Angeles area. Even my foodie friends have never heard of it, though my tastes run quite a bit more simple than theirs do. Well my friends, I have found it here and will be ordering it as soon as I finish writing this review. ENJOY!!!

L'Estornell Garnacha Red Wine Vinegar (200 ml)

L'Estornell Garnacha Red Wine VinegarFrom the first time I tried this vinegar, more than 10 years ago, I have found it to be the best, am so happy to be able to buy it on line, since none of the stores in my area are carrying it anymore. As far as I am concerned there is no substitute.
