We have been ordering Maytag blue cheese for several years now and have been consistently delighted with its quality. It is absolutely the best blue cheese we have ever tasted. I crumble some of it on the garden salad I eat every day for lunch and never tire of it. Occasionally, when we have run out, we have bought other blue cheese as a substitute. The quality for taste and tartness does not even begin to approximate Maytag blue cheese. It's in a class by itself.

Last fall, while traveling on I-80 through Iowa, we stopped at the Maytag factory in Newton. We discovered that Maytag also sells crumbled blue cheese in 5-pound boxes at their outlet store. You will not find this in their catalog, but if you call, they will send these boxes. We have ordered several this way. If you're going to crumble the cheese before using it, you may as well buy it this way, since it's quite a bit cheaper than ordering either the one-pound or the five-pound wheel.

I had been buying Danish Blue Cheese, but when Whole Foods in my area, quit carrying it, I decided to try Maytag Blue. I really enjoyed the Danish blue and was hoping that the Maytag had just as much bite, or kick, if you will. Well, it did! It was wonderful!

I make a salad with mixed greens, sliced strawberries, blue berries, toasted almonds and candied walnuts......and coupled with the crumbled Maytag blue, it is truly an experience for the mouth and taste buds! LOL!!!!

I bought this brand without having tried it beforehand because I couldn't find any mulling spices in bags in the local grocery stores last month, and I was ready for some apple juice and mulling spices. My Wife and I have been making wine from kits for about seven years now. This was our first Cornucopia Fruit Wine Kit. I think that my wife won't let me go back to our other brands now. The flavor of this wine is so incredibly Raspberry flavor, it's as if you are really biting into sweet juicy RED RASPBERRIES and the juice is running down your fingers and chin and the aftertaste you are left with is so pleasant on your tongue, you feel like you spent the day picking Raspberries and eating them as well. This kit was very easy to make. The only thing I did a little differently as far as bumping up the alcohol is I added about 2.5 lbs of corn sweetner (clear Karo) at the beginning of the fermenting. Just add it before the yeast. We have the Pear kit Fermenting now. And we just ordered a second kit of this Red Raspberry. We give a lot to friends and family and neighbors and they all want more more MORE!!!! lol. Well, we are looking forward to trying other flavors. My wife says to try the Red Currant for the holidays. And Green Apple at least. From all the reviews I read, it looks like there really isn't any flavor that is bad. So if your looking for an intense fruit flavor try this Red Raspberry Pinot Nero. You certainly will not be disappointed. Bet you can't drink just one glass!

This is my 9th kit of Cornucopia Fruit Wine.I make it to 6 gal. and add 5 lbs of simple syrup, (just heat water and add sugar)at the beginning fermentation. This will make the wines abv about 12% instead of the 6% that it makes without the sugar.Each pound of sugar raises the abv about 1%. Make sure to use quality water like bottled spring water,not tap or well water.The directions are easy to follow. I have started adding only half to three fourths of the sweetner flavor pack and its better to my taste.If you like a really sweetwine add it all.It also gets a little better after being in the bottle for a month or two.The Vino Italiano wines at amazon are very good too for a regular non fruit wine.Great value with corks and labels and hats.I also don't put labels on all the bottles unless i'm giving them away,too much work to clean them off next time,just use a little adhesive tag to label them.I highly recommend these wines,and its fun to experiment with different techniques that you read other people tried. Enjoy, but remember,its addictive.

It makes a decent wine, this is made to drink when the wine is young, while the wine is just OK at a young stage, it says aging will cause it to lose the fruity taste but since it makes about 30 bottles I think there will be quite a few that will be left to age. I have made wine before and it has turned out well and tasted good after aging. This kit has the ingredients necessary to make the wine but you do need to have your own fermenting container, carboy, the air locks, bottles and things like that. It is easy to do and the price is reasonable. The quality of the wine isn't great but it is acceptable.

With these wine kits you often get told to put Keilesol and Chitosan to clarify the wine...those packets are in the kits. My wife, since I started making wine from kits, has been saying there is a chemical under taste that is not appealing. She has a very sensitive taste capability well beyond me, but even I noticed it.

SO.....

First I added 24 ounces of Karo syrup to boost the alcohol content (to the must), then I followed directions right up to adding the sweetened flavoring. (potassium sorbate, etc was put in...). I only added about 2/3 of the sweet flavoring bag, otherwise it would have been too sweet. Then I stirred well...then I did....nothing....

I let it settle for a week then carted it over to another carboy again, leaving the dregs behind. A week later I filtered it through the small filter system (Vinbrite....works well but you have to rig the bottom plumbing a little) and the wine was....EXCELLENT.

If this doesn't work for you...sorry. However, my 2+ cases were immediately wiped out by friends and family after they tasted it. So now I get to do it again and this time I will shut up once the batch is complete!

I can't believe that I let Food Channel type propaganda keep me from using cooking wine for so long. According to the foodie agitprop you should only use a wine you would like to drink in your cooking. Sounds reasonable, right?? Wrong! In fact most wine of the more delicate sort rolls right off meats like water off a duck's back. It doesn't soak in, thus it gives no flavor, and often complicates other matters by adding liquid just sitting the bottom of the pan. Cooking wine is made to soak in. Yes, there is some salt in it, but not much. It's real quality is the ability to get into the fleish and change the flavor and temper the fattiness, certainly a good thing in all cooking. This Goya brand is particularly good. It makes everything taste more rounded-out in flavors. I can imagine that in very rarefied circumstances a fine wine would augment a dish, but I really doubt it in most cooking. I think the food mavens' doctrines against the everyday cook's ability to make food taste really fine is a bit of petty snobbery with no sense. And this in a day and age when top chefs are sticking stuff like mayonnaise in their preciosities. Quite ironic.

First of all, I like the fact I got plastic bottles instead of glass. I'm clumsy and that's always comforting.

Barrel Aged Balsamic Vinegar 11.8 Oz

This is one of the best balsamic vinegars I have tasted. It is excellent for dipping with garlic and salad dressing! I buy so many for gifts and par with A wonderful garlic mincer as a hostess gift.

I tried this just because I enjoy balsamic vinegar so much I wanted to see what was out there. I stumbled onto the product and bought some based on the handful of 5 star reviews.

This comes with a cork rather than a traditional screw cap. Nowhere on the bottle is this indicated, so I grab the cap and begin unscrewing it. The cork broke and began crumbling. I needed a winescrew to get it out; I'm pretty sure no cork crumbs fell into the bottle but I can't be sure.

The vinegar itself is not what I would call vinegar; it's a light glaze. Very syruppy. More sweet than tangy. Very dark in color; a deep purple to black. My personal taste is a little disappointed. I like a "splashier" balsamic with a strong tang, this is much too sweet to my liking. If this is what you like, you may be pleased. The taste is indeed fruity and rich and it seems like a high quality product.

I first ran into this cracker at AJ's Fine Foods (a local grocery). These crackers taste great and have a generous amount of Rosemary on each cracker (when it hasn't fallen off the cracker).

I recently ordered a pack of 6 boxes from Amazon and found the same problem that most of the boxes in the local grocery had.

Each box *should* have several large crackers the size of the box. But the large crackers don't seem to survive shipping/handling either from Amazon or to the local grocery and so what is in the boxes are lots of cracker pieces ranging from 1/2 cracker size to pieces the size of a quarter. Plus, most of the rosemary has fallen off, so each box has about a tablespoon of the spices that should be on the crackers at the bottom of the bag.

A real shame -I hope the company figures out a way to produce these so that they survive transport, because they are great crackers. The boxes which were shipped from Amazon were boxed well (I don't believe this is an Amazon specific problem).

I won't be buying any more of these online, since even the ones in the stores require visual inspection if you want crackers instead of pieces of crackers.

I ordered this to try it on fish. It was very good. I love their spicy tokyo rub so I decided to give this one a try and I am glad I did. Very good rub.

These snacks were a great gift and the treats were of good quality. I purchased this for family members and the truffles and cookies went fast. The packaging was also very pretty.

The packaging is really all there is here. The supposed gourmet cookies and chocolates inside the boxes were conspicuous by their small portions.
