I first made the Viognier from a Winexpert Vintner's Reserve wine kit some six years ago. It remains one of my favorite white wines. A dry, medium-bodied white wine, it has the fruity overtones of peaches and apricots. This is a great dinner wine, one that pairs especially well with spicy Thai or Mexican dishes. It's also great on a summer evening with strong-flavored or salty cheeses.
Like all the Winexpert kits in the Vintner's Reserve series, the Viognier comes with explicit and easy-to-follow directions. The process from mixing to bottling takes about six weeks and should take no more than three to four hours of total time to complete. Each kit makes approximately 30 750ML bottles of wine, which works out to quite a bargain, since the total cost of the kit is under $70. The wine is ready to drink within a month or two of bottling, although it continues to mature for about a year. This is a great wine for a moderate price.I've been using this kit for years and it never fails. Others I've tried have been cheaper but the results paled in comparison.
