Fallot French Dijon Old Fashioned Grain Mustard in Stone Jar Crock 9 oz

Fallot French Dijon Old Fashioned Grain Mustard in Stone Jar Crock 9 ozI brought some of this back from France with me. Generally I am a mustard person and have tried many different ones over the years. While I am sure there are plenty in this world I have yet to try, I have had more than most and among the many different varieties I have tried, this one is the very best. It is better than any Dijon mustard I have ever purchased in the states by far. After having it in France I just had to find a source for it in the US because it is really something special in the Dijon mustard category.

This is another great product in the Fallot line. While it is not as coarsely ground as some, this mustard had a deep smoky flavor, medium-mild heat, and is not overly salty. I have been pleased to use it for a mustard crust in roasts, Caesar salad, dressings, and as a spread for sandwiches. Adds a new dimension to each. I find it a bit overpowering for salmon, but there are lots of other choices for that. I ordered more as soon as I tasted it. I have used Pommery Moutarde Royale (mustard with cognac) for many years for similar purposes. The Fallot works equally well, but creates a deeper, smoky flavor. I will continue to use both.

Have had Edmond Fallot French Dijon Mustard in a 16 oz stone jar crock before. It was the best Dijon mustard I have ever had. Hot but not too hot. It was not grain, but smooth. I love grain mustard, and was expecting the same flavor as the smooth dijon I had had but with a grainy texture. The grainy Fallot was good, and someone who doesn't enjoy a hot mustard would probably love this. I'm sorry to say I could not find the smooth Fallot mustard listed on Amazon.

This is the best! Very grainy though for those of you on the fence. Reminds me of chilhood because my parents used to serve this more decades ago than I care to admit! Clearly a classic. I ordered it to replace the same stone crock of their smooth Dijon mustard a friend brought me back from France. That must be a European exclusive because I can't find their smooth Dijon in the crock anywhere.

I bought this somewhere in France a Truckstop I think. It's good stuff but it's way too spicy for me. You have to be careful

not to overload. The horseradish flavor will clean your nose out fast. I love the taste of mustard but not the assault on my tastebuds.

The texture is very smooth. the other versions may be a better play to start.
