The outside of the chocolates had turned whiteindicating they had not been properly packaged or that they sat somewhere in the heat. I had previously purchased the chocolates through a local retailer and they were fine. The chocolate in the one tin out of six that I have opened from this vendor is dry, tasteless, brittle, and dusty-looking, like old chocolate gets, although marked with a December, 2013 expiration date. This brand of chocolate usually is so superb that I send it as gifts from time to time, and I had never had a bad experience with it. In fact, I highly recommend this brand of chocolate. I recently bought identical looking tins of this same brand of product and found them marked as expiring in 2014, not 2013--and that was at a T. J. Maxx, and not even a regular chocolate outlet. The chocolate drops in the tins I bought at T. J. Maxx were so fresh and delicious that I looked for a place to order more of the brand online because T. J. Maxx does not often have it and I rarely see it in other stores. This batch from your vendor is NOT fresh and not worth eating in my estimation, and I am very sorry that I ordered it. I am now informed that I cannot return it. So now I am out $35 for what I can only consider to be throwaway merchandise if the other five tins hold the same dry, tasteless, brittle, dusty-looking product. What a deal. I noticed, too, that one of the plastic boxes containing three of the six tins of chocolate that I had ordered was not sealed and had the appearance of having had a label scratched off it, but all of the tins had their tight plastic sleeves on them with December, 2013 expiration dates. If the vendor refuses to accept the order back I shall have to send it to the manufacturer, along with the vendor's name, and see what the manufacturer thinks about it. I wouldn't want the manufacturer to stop making these chocolates or to get a bad rap on their otherwise excellent product.Although I cannot vouch for the taste of the chocolate, the presentation was just what I was looking for. Each box has 3 seperately packaged tins of chocolate. When the first box arrived, I immediately went back to Amazon and bought a 2nd box. I used each tin as part of a prize for a wine themed bridal shower.
