I used to have one of the old crocks from the early 80s and the writing was directly on the crock. The newer ones have labels with tons of bubbles beneath them. Also, the crock arrived with a big chip and a crack...not surprising since it was shipped in a bubble envelope with no box to protect the crock at all. The crock (without a box) was simply placed in an envelope with bubble lining. This will be returned...I didn't pay $40 for a cracked crock!
ADDENDUM: After the first crock arrived cracked last week, Amazon issued a full refund and assured me that a re-order would be shipped in a proper box. Second crock arrived today, shipped in the same style envelope as the first, and it was cracked even worse this time. Big chip off the lid and a large half-dollar size piece cracked off the crock. This is a very fragile piece of crockery and needs to be shipped in a box with peanuts or another appropriate type of cushioning. A bubble-lined envelope is not appropriate to ship an item such as this half-way across the country. The spice company does not package this crock in a box...it is simply sealed in the type of plastic you would remove off the top of a spice jar from the supermarket. Then, when shipped, it was simply placed in an envelope meant for something flat.
My husband and I lived and worked in Provence in the past and have always loved this spice mix. We have no issue with the spice itself. It is wonderful for cooking. The crock is attractive for storage, although it has a cheap looking label...but that can be soaked off and then you can hand write "Herbes de Provence" on the crock with a Sharpie to look like the older crocks, pre-labels.
Too bad these two crocks have been destroyed by inappropriate packaging. Can't decide if I should try to order it one more time!
We use it in everything. Add a little more oregano or basil as you wish, to change the flavor. It's very hard to go wrong.

I first tasted this brand of herbes de provence when I traveled to France 30 years ago and brought a small jar home. Last year, I was in London at Fortnum and Mason and saw this large jar and had to bring some home. It is the best, most delicate yet flavorful herbes de provence combination. Sprinkle it over a little goat cheese on a cracker--divine! It is very hard to find the large jar in the US so this is a bargain and lasts a long time. Trust me, there is nothing like it!

I took a chance on these, and, well, you win some and you lose some. Everyone has different tastes.... My favorite roasted-salted pecans are Trader Joe's, but they're not available online. If you hate those, then maybe you'll like Sante. For me, I found the Sante pecans over-roasted and tasteless. Oddly, I felt sick after eating some, but maybe that was because of something else? Anyway, taste-wise, they're the worst pecans I've ever had. If you do order them, watch out for that $15 shipping charge -which I had overlooked. Maybe that was what made me sick. ;-)
