Cornucopia Fruit Wine Making Kit, White Pear Chardonnay, 17.5-Pound Box

Cornucopia Fruit Wine Making Kit, White Pear Chardonnay, 17.5-Pound BoxThis wine actually turned out really well. I made some modifications to the kit however. If you figure out the potential alcohol content, this kit would probably get around 7%, but by adding additional sugar at the primary fermentation, I ended up with 13%. I also didn't use the whole f-pack. It would have been WAY to sweet. Instead, I topped the carboy off with an unoaked Chardonnay that I like.

I would call this a summer wine-light with strong pear notes. Almost clear in color. Nice finish and a good wine for those who don't really like wine.

This is my second Cornucopia kit. Turned out very good. Upped the sg to about 1090 and only made 5 gallons. I also used some of the flavor pack at the start of fermentation. I can't wait to try it on my friends and family.

I've bought several of these wine kits and have had very good results. I boost the alcohol content by adding 4 lbs of sugar to the initial fermentation process. I do make a full 6 gallons, which has worked well. The initial fermentation takes longer, but it is worth it.

This is probably my favorite of all of the wine kits I have made so far. It is a little sweet, but tastes great. I would definitely recommend this to anyone!

Reserve Du Chateau 6 Week Wine Kit, Italian Prosecco, 55-Pound Container

Reserve Du Chateau 6 Week Wine Kit, Italian Prosecco, 55-Pound ContainerWhen the wine shop I typically buy from wasn't able to get this particular type of wine so I ordered it from Amazon. The kit is 'brewing' as I write but i was pleased with the quick delivery. I did expect this to be a Sparkling wine but it isn't. i'm sure that was my mistake. The price was comparative with other wine kits as well. Thanks Amazon.

They needed to say how old it was for a wine kit. Other than that it seems to be working fine.

Bar Harbor All Natural Herring with Cabarnet Wine Sauce, 6.7-Ounce Cans (Pack of 12)

Bar Harbor All Natural Herring with Cabarnet Wine Sauce, 6.7-Ounce CansExcellent herring, very soft and flaky, not like other canned fish, nice sauce, not at all over powering.

When I was growing up, medium-sized bottles of herring in sour cream were a staple. I was was aware of herring in wine sauce....but my parents never bought it. I have searched for herring in sour cream here on Amazon, to no success as yet. However, I DID find these BAR HARBOR WILD HERRING FILLETS IN CABERNET WINE SAUCE here on Amazon, and decided to try them.

I never knew that herring was such a dry fish! The wine sauce inside the can is plentiful -but it still doesn't take away all of the dryness. There is a goodly amount of wine sauce -but not so much that it will spill out of the can when opened. If you are careful opening the can, spilling of the wine sauce IS preventable. (It's a little difficult for me, at least, to open the can by the pull-tab. So far, I have had four of the twelve cans in the shipment -and had to use a can-opener to open each one.)

The good news about the sauce, aside from it's delicious taste, is that it has enough time, in the the can, to permeate the fish, with some of the sauce still left over. As I have mentioned, the sauce doesn't take away ALL the dryness -but it does take a bit away, and so the over-abundance of wine sauce IS a good idea. A doubly-good idea, I think, is to DRAIN the sauce which has not permeated the fish, (before eating the fish), into a small container, and keep it in the refrigerator. Then, you can use it for various other things -such as adding it to tuna fish, as I have done. Then, the tuna becomes tastier, and you can leave out the mayonnaise, (which is mostly oil anyway), and get a richer tuna flavour, possibly with fewer calories!

These "Bar Harbor Herring Filets in Cabernet Wine Sauce" have the OU stamp of approval from the Orthodox (Jewish) Union, so preumably the cabernet wine, (listed in the next-to-the-last position in the ingredients), is KOSHER caberbet wine -although the word "kosher" is not found in front of this ingredient.

This product is "sustainably harvested from the clear cold waters of the Gulf of Maine". It is also stated that it is a "Product of Canada". On the back of the cardboard sleeve encasing each tin, it is stated: "Produced in Canada, for Bar Harbor Foods, Whiting Maine, 04691 USA....." This may confuse some people, (it confuses me a lot)...but I prefer to consider it a happy product, jointly produced by two of the greatest countries in the world! Whatever you may think of my opinion, you must admit that it's nice to find a product produced ANYWHERE else than in China, these days!

Eating four cans of these herring fillets, (6.7 ounces, 190 grams each), in two days, says I like them -and I do. They even have a

slight, very tasty smoky flavour -without any liquid smoke listed amongst the ingredients! (As liquid smoke -along with, (darn!), so many other things that taste SO good -is rumoured to be cancer-causing, this is certainly a good thing!) But the fish is, as I have said, semi-dry....in spite of the wine sauce in which the fish comes, and in which it is saturated. These fillets in cabernet wine sauce ARE delicious -but I do wish I could also find herring fillets in sour cream, that I grew up with. A different flavour, and not, perhaps to everyone's taste -but at least herring fillets in sour cream are NOT at all dry.

I am always searching the food stores for a good canned fish at a reasonable price. I finally found one that I really enjoy on the internet. The Bar Harbor All Natural Herring with Cabarnet Wine Sauce was a great buy for me. Now I can stop some of my searching. In ordering I also joined the club and received more percentage off my order. The club will now send me one dozen cans every 6 months. After 8 weeks I am down to three cans. I may have to increase the volume of my order in the future. I usually enjoy the canned herring on or with crackers for an enjoyable lunch.

Chateau Classico 6 Week Wine Kit, Australian Chardonnay, 40-Pound Box

Chateau Classico 6 Week Wine Kit, Australian Chardonnay, 40-Pound BoxThis kit produced the highest initial specific gravity of any Paklab wine kit that I have seen so far. After filling the fermenter to 6 gallons, the SG was 1.093. The actual quality of this Chardonnay is still be determined, but a very good start.

8 months later:

The final product is a very good, dry Chardonnay. I added an ounce of American oak cubes to the secondary fermenter. Only about 2 weeks on the oak is enough for this wine. Waiting 6 months to drink it is really beneficial.

WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND THESE KITS TO ANYONE.ITS ALOT OF WORK,BUT VERY REWARDING!!!MAKE YOUR OWN GOOD QUALITY WINE FOR LESS THAN 3 BUCKS A BOTTLE.THANKX AGAIN AMAZON FOR YOUR GREAT SERVICE AND WONDERFUL ONLINE STORE..

I have made over 50 kit wines the past 6 years, mostly WineExpert kits bought locally. So far, I am very pleased with this purchase. At 60% the cost of other white wine kits I've made, trying one of these kits was an easy choice for me. Add that these kits come with 30 corks, 30 labels, and 30 shrink-wrap bottle top covers, it's a no brainer. This kit is currently completing secondary fermentation in the carboy and I have not yet tasted it. I am bottling a different Chateau Classico red and am convinced it is as good as any other red kit wine I've made. This dry white Chard should be on par with other kit wines as well. Can't beat the price . . .

Vanilla Fig Balsamic Vinegar 11.8 Oz

Vanilla Fig Balsamic Vinegar 11.8 OzI buy this balsamic vinegar regularly and love it! For those of you unfamiliar with artisan balsamic vinegars, this vinegar is almost more of a sweetish syrup rather than the very watery, overly vinegar-y types you may be more familiar with. A little bit goes a long way. I make my salad dressing with it: 50/50 blend of virgin olive oil and balsamic vinegar. You can also mix a bit with olive oil and dip bread into it, and drizzle it over veggies. It's truly wonderful stuff. I never buy "regular" vinegar anymore. I am hooked on this stuff, and you will be too!

Best flavored balsamic I have ever had. Great alone on any salad or as a glaze on meats. Fantastic. Anxious to try their other flavors.

When I first received some of this as a gift, I thought it sounded wierd. But after experimenting, I found it to make an incredible salad dressing. It's especially good when combined with some roasted hazelnut oil, olive oil, fresh herbs, and carmelized onions for an amazing vinaigrette. I'd never want to be without this item in my pantry!

Reserve Du Chateau 6 Week Wine Kit, Italian Pinot Grigio, 55-Pound Container

Reserve Du Chateau 6 Week Wine Kit, Italian Pinot Grigio, 55-Pound ContainerThis kit contains 6 gallons of juice--not a concentrate. It is so easy to make, and it appears to be a great wine. I will need to age it for a year to be sure of the wine, but it sure does look good.

Of course you can buy higher quality wine kits but they cost a lot more. For $3 per bottle this is positively the best pinot grigio I ever tasted. It's light fruity and slightly acidic & has a good mouth feel. Definitely not that astringent stump water of the same name that you find in grocery stores.

Frankly I wasn't expecting much for the price so I'm a bit surprised. I think of this variety as a strictly 'summer' wine. It will be a winner at any backyard bbq birthday or anniversary that happens to occur. I bottled 24 in wine bottles & put the balance in recycled beer bottles. Beer bottles are more convenient for camping trips. The best people in America are to be found in campgrounds during summer and this wine should make a nice ice breaker while meeting new friends.

April 14 six weeks from start tried my first beer bottle of this wine. Dominant smells and taste are citrus and banana. As a rule banana is not approved in my list of smells/flavors. Can't tolerate an artificial pretense. But this banana is real and not over expressed. Just enough of the real deal to be noticable. As I implied in the first instance this wine screams for a summer evening outdoor party. Pool party BBQ whatever. For the love of God get on with it. You still have time. Buy it. Do it. I'm astonished at the quality vs stuff I ever bought before.

Love the product.... we have bought from this company before and we really enjoy it...... Can't wait to try the other wine kits...

The kit is good. My wife and I drink a lot of Pinot Grigio at meals, etc and this one came out pretty well. I say pretty well because I think I discovered something with a subsequent kit....the chitosan and kielesol used to clarify the wine leave a chemical taste. I used it in the first batch of this wine and we can taste it, but the wine itself is very good.

I say first batch because I am buying another kit and using something else for finings...possibly will experiment with gelatin or something. The reason? Right after doing this kit I did another kit and decided to try leaving out the chitosan and kielesol and the wine came out really REALLY good....2 1/2 cases evaporated once my friends tried it. So I think I will either leave it out in the future or try gelatin, bentonite, or something else.

Back to this kit....

I ran the initial fermentation for 3 weeks, then secondary for 2 weeks. I then fined it and let it sit for about 3 more weeks. I then ran it through my Vin Brite filter into bottles, and went out of town. My wife called me to say, "Not bad!", and liked it enough to drink it relatively soon after bottling.

So it passes muster for the grapes and kit in general, but I think I want to either use something else for fining or try letting it settle for a month and then filtering it into the bottles. This after, of course, initial and secondary fermentation with transfer to a carboy once or twice to help clarify it some.

Made this wine and aged it 3 months. Thought I would give it a try and it was delicious. Between myself, friends and family, I am down to my last bottle and it hasn't even been 6 months.

6/30/2013

I made the 6 gallon Cabernet kit and that turned out great too. Now I just started another pinot grigio. I'm going to try to age this one a little more.... if I can keep my family and friends away from it.
