Viognier (Vintner's Reserve)

ViognierI first made the Viognier from a Winexpert Vintner's Reserve wine kit some six years ago. It remains one of my favorite white wines. A dry, medium-bodied white wine, it has the fruity overtones of peaches and apricots. This is a great dinner wine, one that pairs especially well with spicy Thai or Mexican dishes. It's also great on a summer evening with strong-flavored or salty cheeses.

Like all the Winexpert kits in the Vintner's Reserve series, the Viognier comes with explicit and easy-to-follow directions. The process from mixing to bottling takes about six weeks and should take no more than three to four hours of total time to complete. Each kit makes approximately 30 750ML bottles of wine, which works out to quite a bargain, since the total cost of the kit is under $70. The wine is ready to drink within a month or two of bottling, although it continues to mature for about a year. This is a great wine for a moderate price.

I've been using this kit for years and it never fails. Others I've tried have been cheaper but the results paled in comparison.

Grand Champion 100% Ka'u Red Bourbon, Whole Bean, Medium Roast, LIMITED EDITION

Grand Champion 100% Ka'u Red Bourbon, Whole Bean, Medium Roast, LIMITED EDITIONI am a complete coffee fanatic, and when I can't get the beans I grow myself (yes, I grow a small batch of my own beans every year!), Rusty's is among my favorite alternatives.

The product is well packaged and obviously produced with care. The container is a two part pouch within a canister completely airtight and capable of keeping the product fresh if you don't use it immediately. The package is small (less than half a pound), and although it adds up to a very high price per pound, the small size can be a positive, since you're likely to use it up while it's still fresh.

Inside, the beans are simply beautiful to look at...uniform shape and color, roasted with lots of consistency and no cracked beans or chaff. As someone who roasts my own beans, I'd say that the roast is somewhat on the light side of a medium roast, giving you a somewhat blonder color than, say, a French roast having very dark tones. The appearance is somewhat dry, compared to other beans that are sometimes oily. Still, the bean is robust enough to benefit from this roast, and I've gone through several packages, finding the roast (and taste) quite consistent from batch to batch. Still, I wish Rusty would offer these unroasted for those of us who would like to experiment with the roast to maybe fine-tune the flavor just a bit.

To me, the taste is five star and quintessential Kona...smooth, bright, not too acidic, and sweet, with amazing character and pronounced chocolate notes. This is truly one of the world's great beans, delivered fresh, well roasted and ready to surprise you in the cup. Compared to other high-end beans, such as Jamaican Blue Mountain, the taste is similar although to my palette, Rusty's is consistently higher quality than any of the Jamaican Blue Mountain beans I've sampled lately.

For the coffee machine, I grind mine somewhat fine and brew it very carefully, with water right at 185-190 degrees. It's also delicious ground somewhat more coarsely in a French press. Even in a stovetop espresso pot, Rusty's gives you flavors way beyond what you might be accustomed to from lesser beans.

Although expensive, Rusty's coffee is definitely a treat worth experiencing.

10 Ounce Angostura Bitters Cocktail Drink Mixes

10 Ounce Angostura Bitters Cocktail Drink MixesWhen my local stores stopped carring Angotura Bitters I tried another brand and was dissatisfied with the taste. Then I found I could by it through Amazon.com so all is well again.

This product is well known in the English speaking Caribbean, that is where I know it. It is a great mix of spices to enhance the flavour of your sauces, your beverages and it can be added to your marinade. I use it quite often. A few dashes is quite sufficient for the desired taste. I am glad I found this product, makes me feel close to home. Love it

Striplings Original Beef Jerky (2 ounce)

Striplings Original Beef JerkyI am very picky with my beef jerky but striplings goes above and beyond most if not all others I have ever tried. The only bad thing about striplings is that if it is not in a local store the shipping seems to nearly always double the price. If you arent sure just give it a try and you will not be dissapointed!
