Sharp Cheddar Cheese (12 Oz.) Crock

Sharp Cheddar Cheese CrockI bought this during the holidays and I loved not only the cheese for holiday parties but mainly this lovely serving crock which is dishwasher safe & reusable. When the cheese ran out I filled it with a cold home made veggie dip. The crock is stoneware and handmade and for the price I thought it was a bargain. A+

Olli Napoli Salami, 6 Ounce

Olli Napoli Salami, 6 OunceWe purchased both the Napoli and the spicy salami and both were tasted great and you could tell it was high quality meat used to produce. We liked the natural casing that just pealed off easily.

I love all the Olli products, their salamis are so delicous and great quality. The price here on amazon is cheaper than Whole foods by a dollar. I will keep ordering very often.

I had ordered several Olli salamis and found two to be of great quality and just wonderful but two did not taste right like it's about to spoil though it was months at expiration date. I am hesitant to order more only due to not knowing if I'll get a good or a bad one.

I have ordered all the Olli salami varieties and find them good to excellent. But sometimes they arrive with the outer skin moist, yellowish, and smelly instead of dry and whitish.

I think this happens when moisture and heat are introduced over time by poor storage or poor shipping methods.

The first time it happened I contacted the company and they sent me a replacement which was perfect. I should note it shipped with a foil temperature resistant envelope and a cold pack.

I hope they solve this issue because I want to keep ordering these very tasty salamis.

I should mention I ate the salami which arrived with the wet yellow stinky exterior, and it was good once I discarded the skin and wiped it off. No ill effects. :)

Cugino's Gourmet Foods, Ridiculously Delicious Soups, 8 Cup Baked Burgundy French Onion Soup, 3.8-O

Cugino's Gourmet Foods, Ridiculously Delicious Soups, 8 Cup Baked Burgundy French Onion Soup, 3.8-Ounce BoxesOkay, so you have to add your own onion and bread.....adding these fresh is a good thing. This is meant to be a starter mix of seasonings, not an add water and eat soup. The flavoring of this mix is excellent! I tried this out on friends and added homemade italian bread and sharp white cheddar cheese and we decided it was the best french onion soup ever! I have tried onion soups from MANY restaurants in search of the perfect french onion soup and have found ones equal, but none better than this combination. A friend who also tried this mix has worked at several high end restaurants and with our combination of bread and cheese, she said none of them can match the quality of our homemade soup! Yes, we could tinker with seasoning combinations to try to match Cugino's, but why bother when Cugino's has already put together the perfect blend.

Okay, the sodium content is high, but most good french onion soups are. And I would agree with the other reviewer to double the amount of onions added because one onion is just not enough.

The proper bread and cheese do make a big difference for french onion soups, so don't skimp on quality there and you should be very pleased with this mix.

This makes absolutely the best French Onion Soup I have ever had. Nuf' said. I use the box recipe with a couple of changes.

Matt's French Onion Soup

Serves: 2

Need two soup crock pots. Some will be left over and can be frozen in a vacuum bag for future usage.

1 box Cugino's Baked Burgundy French Onion Soup Mix

4 (1-ounce) slices of circular provolone cheese 2 should be slighly larger that the top of the crock pot's opening

4 slices bread

2 slices mozzarella cheese

1. Make the onion soup per the box direction except double the boil time to thicken the broth.

2. Meanwhile, place each bread slice on a cutting board.

3. Press and rotate the upside down open end of the crock onto the bread and rotate it to cut it into a circle the size of the crock pot opening.

4. Place one of the circular slices of bread into the bottom of each crock pot.

5. Place a slice of the smaller provolone cheese over the bread in each crock pot.

6. Place a slice of mozzarella cheese over the bread in each crock pot.

7. Ladle the soup mix while still very hot into each crock pot about 1/2 inch from the top.

8. Place the remaining slices of circular bread onto the top of each crock pot making sure the top is even with the top of the crock pot.

9. Place the remaining slices over the top of the crock pots.

10. Place the crock pots in the oven and broil until the top layer of provolone cheese is browned and toasty.

11. Serve immediately and enjoy after it's cool enough to eat! Yum yum! So tasty!

Great soup mix. The instructions are easy to follow. Like one other reviewer mentioned, it could use a bit more onion then what is suggested but that's easy to fix.

The mix is a bit of the pricey side but I think it's well worth the price for the quality (and quantity) of soup you get.

I've tried many french onion soup and soup mixes. Nothing compared to restaurant quality--until this! YUMMMY! It is my absolute favorite soup. I buy 4-5 packs whenever I'm lucky enough to see it in Walmart.

Tarragon Vinegar - 16.8oz

Tarragon Vinegar - 16.8ozThis product is a favorite of mine I have been searching for it for a long time and found it on Amazon. It makes a wonderful component for a salad dressing.

This vinegar is so much better than any flavored vinegar on the market which change the test of your salads such as the too strong balsamic. With this vinegar, you smell the tarragon and I recommend on a fresh lettuce or mâche or arugula salads, use just few drops, add a spoon of Basil Olive Oil, a dash of salt and try it! Too bad this vinegar is hard to find on the US stores shelves.

the best salad dressing I have ever tasted was at Summer Joes in Grants Pass, Oregon made with tarragon.

Now I can make it!!

Well, I was a bit disappointed. It's a French vinegar but doesn't remind me of France at all. Hardly any different from any white vinegar. It was quite inexpensive, but I am not using it. Strangely, Heinz makes a far superior and tasty vinegar (tarragon) even though it is a commercial product, but I haven't been able to find it in any market anymore. I cannot recommend this, even though the bottle itself is pretty and a stalk of tarragon is visible. I just took a chance and it didn't work out.

Barrel Aged Balsamic Vinegar 11.8 Oz

Barrel Aged Balsamic Vinegar 11.8 OzThis is one of the best balsamic vinegars I have tasted. It is excellent for dipping with garlic and salad dressing! I buy so many for gifts and par with A wonderful garlic mincer as a hostess gift.

I tried this just because I enjoy balsamic vinegar so much I wanted to see what was out there. I stumbled onto the product and bought some based on the handful of 5 star reviews.

This comes with a cork rather than a traditional screw cap. Nowhere on the bottle is this indicated, so I grab the cap and begin unscrewing it. The cork broke and began crumbling. I needed a winescrew to get it out; I'm pretty sure no cork crumbs fell into the bottle but I can't be sure.

The vinegar itself is not what I would call vinegar; it's a light glaze. Very syruppy. More sweet than tangy. Very dark in color; a deep purple to black. My personal taste is a little disappointed. I like a "splashier" balsamic with a strong tang, this is much too sweet to my liking. If this is what you like, you may be pleased. The taste is indeed fruity and rich and it seems like a high quality product.

Use this with EVOO and salt for a wonderful dipping sauce for bread. Regularly use this with lemon olive oil for a quick, easy and delish salad dressing. I wouldn't buy anything else. Fast shipping too!

Garrotxa Goat Cheese (8oz or 1lb)

Garrotxa Goat CheeseI love cheese in general. I've had lots of European cheeses, and this one is OUTSTANDING.

The texture is a bit hard, not creamy as French cheeses; and the flavor is full and rich. Great to serve with some bread and of course, some wine. It is great with salads as well, you won't need any dressing since the cheese is enough a good flavor enhancer by itself.

I have shared it with many guests and they ALL love it. It's not salty like Cheddar and smoked cheeses, it's more of a refined goat-milky flavor.

It's always a Success!

This was a little pricey but I was very intrigued by it. So we went ahead and pulled the trigger. Two days into it, we received an email from the vendor telling us to keep an eye out of the shipment b/c while they have adequate safeguards for shipping, if it sat out too long it could go bad.

Well, we got it today and yes, the Ice packs were melted. We pulled out the cheese anxious to verify it hadn't gone bad. It hadn't. Shipping was quick overall and the product is just too good for words. If you are just trying goat cheese, this probably isn't the one you want to crack your teeth on. If you have tried several different types and like stronger flavors, you'll find this divine. Even though it's pricey, I fully plan on regularly making purchases as I couldn't be happier with it nor can my wife.

Reserve Du Chateau 4 Week Wine Kit, Chilean Cabernet Merlot, 17.5-Pound Box

Reserve Du Chateau 4 Week Wine Kit, Chilean Cabernet Merlot, 17.5-Pound BoxI gave this wine a chance for the first time a few months ago, and I was definitely impressed. It's semi-dry and very smooth. I believe it of a higher quality than the vino italiano brands on amazon. It's worth the extra 10 bucks or so for sure.

This kit is probably the best of the Reserve series. It's easy to produce an excellent red, with the softness of Merlot and the slight acidity of the Cabernet.

I used this kit to make 4 gallons of port. It came out very well. It certainly took longer than the 4 weeks claimed by the kit, but then I made my own directions. I will recount my method in case anyone wants to try their hand at it. Here's what i did:

I chose this kit because it had made five gallons of decent wine for me in the past. The blend had a good balance, but even at 5 gallons was a bit thin.

I reserved one and one-half cups of concentrate and froze it. I used the remaining to make 4 gallons of must and fermented it with the yeast provided.

About a month in, I added 1/4 gallon of simple syrup and some yeast nutrient.

Two months in, I racked to a three gallon glass carboy and a one gallon jug, topped with simple syrup and air-locked them for another 2 months.

I racked them back into a 5 gallon carboy and added the correct amount of cognac, using Pearson's square. I let it sit until I was certain fermentation was done.

I stabilized the wine and degassed it and added in the thawed, room temp concentrate that I kept from the first and added medium toast french oak chips and rested the wine for another two months.

At bottling I racked the wine from the sediment, but did not filter it as I usually do with regular wine. I wanted any oak residue to remain in the bottle and settle out over time.

I was rewarded with a very good port that I expect to age very well. I will do this again in about 3 years.

I saved money over using a port kit and got four gallons instead of three which port kits usually yield. It did take a very long time to make compared to a port kit, but with port, there is no need to hurry. I won't even open the first bottle for at least a year. What would I do different? I would splurge and buy a higher end cognac. I could afford it for what I saved. I would probably also use a higher quality cork, only because I plan to still be drinking this 6 or 7 years out. The included corks would have been just fine if i used the kit for basic table wine, as I doubt it would remain in the cellar more than a year. I will also like use a port yeast since I know this experiment worked out very well. I'm still money ahead.

I make about 75 gallons of wine a year. Some from kits, some from fresh grapes and some from stuff you wouldn't think would make a good wine (cucumbers, beets, rhubarb, all make good wine, but take about 12 months from must to bottle. Most of my wine is given to friends and those people who have been kind enough to supply me with fresh grapes, cucumbers, rhubarb and beets.

Ports, ice wines and sherries stay with me and cellar.

Have fun. This is a great hobby. The price of these kits makes them attractive to do odd things with, for instance I blended a Moscato kit with some of the cucumber wine and it was really tasty. I don't think I would have played around like that with a hundred dollar kit.

Product came in 2 days. Instructions a little vague but in 4 weeks it was ready to bottle. No filtering needed at bottling time. I have purchased 5 wine kits and the wine has always been great after it has rested for several months.

I have made a Shiraz from another brand kit and it was decent after a year of cellering. This wine is far better after just the 2nd racking. Much more flavor and already smooth but with a nice acidity. I am thinking after maturing for 6 12 months this will be a wine to be proud of. We will see if I can make it that long without drinking them all. The labels, wrapper caps and corks are a bonus. I have paid more for kits with far less that were not even in the same ballpark. I made this into a 5 gallon kit.
