Grand Champion 100% Ka'u Red Bourbon, Whole Bean, Medium Roast, LIMITED EDITION

Grand Champion 100% Ka'u Red Bourbon, Whole Bean, Medium Roast, LIMITED EDITIONI am a complete coffee fanatic, and when I can't get the beans I grow myself (yes, I grow a small batch of my own beans every year!), Rusty's is among my favorite alternatives.

The product is well packaged and obviously produced with care. The container is a two part pouch within a canister completely airtight and capable of keeping the product fresh if you don't use it immediately. The package is small (less than half a pound), and although it adds up to a very high price per pound, the small size can be a positive, since you're likely to use it up while it's still fresh.

Inside, the beans are simply beautiful to look at...uniform shape and color, roasted with lots of consistency and no cracked beans or chaff. As someone who roasts my own beans, I'd say that the roast is somewhat on the light side of a medium roast, giving you a somewhat blonder color than, say, a French roast having very dark tones. The appearance is somewhat dry, compared to other beans that are sometimes oily. Still, the bean is robust enough to benefit from this roast, and I've gone through several packages, finding the roast (and taste) quite consistent from batch to batch. Still, I wish Rusty would offer these unroasted for those of us who would like to experiment with the roast to maybe fine-tune the flavor just a bit.

To me, the taste is five star and quintessential Kona...smooth, bright, not too acidic, and sweet, with amazing character and pronounced chocolate notes. This is truly one of the world's great beans, delivered fresh, well roasted and ready to surprise you in the cup. Compared to other high-end beans, such as Jamaican Blue Mountain, the taste is similar although to my palette, Rusty's is consistently higher quality than any of the Jamaican Blue Mountain beans I've sampled lately.

For the coffee machine, I grind mine somewhat fine and brew it very carefully, with water right at 185-190 degrees. It's also delicious ground somewhat more coarsely in a French press. Even in a stovetop espresso pot, Rusty's gives you flavors way beyond what you might be accustomed to from lesser beans.

Although expensive, Rusty's coffee is definitely a treat worth experiencing.

Point Reyes Original Blue Cheese (8oz or 1lb)

Point Reyes Original Blue CheeseMy husband I recently ate at an outside cafe in Geneva, IL. It was late afternoon so we just wanted something light to eat with a glass of wine. We ordered a cheese plate that include a choice of three cheese. One of the choices on the menu was a blue cheese listed as "Pointed Reyes Original Farmstead Blue". It was exceptionally good completly outshining the sharp cheedar and the mild Wisconsin Gouda. So much so that I asked to take a copy of the menu home so I could order the cheese on the internet. Not as easy as I thought, but I did find it on Amazon and ordered it, after I corrected the spelling to "Point" Reyes rather than "Pointed" Reyes Blue Cheese.

It was delievered in a couple of days intact and as delicious as I remembered. This really is a standout blue cheese especially if you like a tangy sharp blue cheese. It is creamy but not overpowering and does not have the musky taste that some blue cheeses do. The only downside was the cost of shipping. The cheese was $18.00 for a pound but the shipping was unexpectely high at $26.00. The combined cost makes for a very expensive cheese. I'm sure I will enjoying eating this blue cheese and make certain that I perserve every valuble bite of it until it is gone.

Columbus Salame Company Sliced Pepper Salame 10 Ounce

Columbus Salame Company Sliced Pepper Salame 10 OunceGreat taste and just the correct amount of pepper! Had it delivered to my APO AE address in Iraq. The 3lb stick and the regular sliced salami as well. Shared with all, and saved some for me to enjoy later. Being an Italian, this was as good as a salami as I have ever had. Better than the salami I had in Rome too! Makes the mouth water and craving for it again now! Best to enjoy in moderation, it is a high sodium food, but oh so good and worth the guilty pleasure! Made some sandwiches too with spicy mustard! Only thing missing was sharp provolone cheese! That they won't deliver to an APO AE address, bummer. Enjoy and time for me to order some more!

I'm very satisfied with this company. he order arrived sooner than expected. It was in excellent conditions. The product itself is delicious. I have ordered from them before and I have never been disappointed.

I have not had this product in the pre-sliced package displayed here, however I did get it from my local deli sliced off of a larger piece and the flavor of this particular salame is outstanding. The pepper crust is really the best part and really makes you appreciate the often under-appreciated black peppercorn. Sliced very thinly this is a great snack all by itself.
