Cheerwine Cherry Soda - 12 oz Bottle: Single Bottle

Cheerwine Cherry Soda - 12 oz Bottle: Single BottleI love Cheerwine. I don't drink sodas very often, but I make an exception to enjoy Cheerwine whenever I find it. It's got a great cherry taste and very refreshing. Note this, however: the formula they use in the plastic bottles contains high fructose corn syrup, whereas the formula for the glass bottles uses real sugar. I prefer the glass bottles (b/c of the real sugar and b/c glass bottles preserve carbonation longer than plastic bottles). That's it!

Cheerwine is a regional soda from North Carolina, that has expanded into 12 other southeast states in the last 8 years. Started in 1917, Cheerwine was first formulated in the basement of L. D. Peeler's wholesale grocery store. Created during prohibition when it was common to name sodas after liquors. The owner added a new cherry flavor syrup to his previous soda and cheerwine was born. Believe it or his great grandsons still run the company.

The bergundy red soft drink has a nice mellow cherry flavor, and the color is really a pretty burgundy color, almost like wine. It is more subtle and seems less sweet on the palate than the grocery store house brands of cherry soda. No aftertaste or bite. It is easy to see why the locals in North Carolina rave about this and the other drink from this company, "Cool Moon". Also made in diet soda.

Typically not available in stores, this bottled version of a favorite Down South has pure cane sugar. It's a little sweeter and a lot smoother than the canned stuff. Packed with plenty of bubble wrap, our two bottles arrived safe and sound Up North. Thanks for making our Christmas happy!

Buffa's Jalapeno Cheese Biscuits (Cheese Straws) 4 Oz

Buffa's Jalapeno Cheese Biscuits 4 OzBuffa's Jalapeño cheese biscuits are the best Jalapeño cheese biscuits I have tasted. They taste just like homemade! Very cheesy with just the right kick and a nice crunch all natural ingredients. Great to serve at cocktail parties, with a glass of wine or just to have as a snack! You won't go wrong when ordering Buffa's Jalapeño cheese biscuits.

Cornucopia Fruit Wine Kit, Blush Melon Zinfandel Blush, 17.5-Pound Box

Cornucopia Fruit Wine Kit, Blush Melon Zinfandel Blush, 17.5-Pound BoxKit has been bottled for two weeks now, and might need to set for a few more weeks to achieve a better balance. Added sugar at start of fermentation to increase alcohol, so there is an alcohol bite. Also flavor pack has a slight chemical aftertaste. Should be better after some aging.

I made this wine and it has an odd aroma and flavor.

I am hoping as it ages it will mellow and become a very drinkable table wine.

Having made the Cornucopia Tropical Riesling. I was hoping this would be like it and be very drinkable right after bottling. Time will tell.

This was our first attempt at making our own wine. We were a little afraid at first but followed the directions, which were easy enough. We bottled at 28 days but probably could have let it sit another week. It was very clear and a really nice color. I don't think we added as much water as it called for (maybe 1/2 gal less). The flavor is very sweet & fruity and everyone that has tasted it says, "I can see me sittin' by the pool, sippin' this all day long".

Benecol Smart Chews, Caramel, 120-Count Soft Chews

Benecol Smart Chews, Caramel, 120-Count Soft ChewsI have been taking this product for the past 12 months. Not only is it simple to take and easy on the taste buds, but as you will read also much more effective than I ever thought it would be. In addition, I have been taking direct source of milk thistle and tudca powder, TUDCA Powder (Tauroursodeoxycholic) 25 Grams + FREE Milk Thistle Powder 25 Grams. I am forty-two years old and exercise regularly and eat moderately healthy.

I recently took a physical for a new position I acquired with a huge company and my total cholesterol was 149. I was completely taken off guard by hearing this number because the last time I had my cholesterol checked was three years ealrier and my total cholesterol at that time was over 200. I was 39 then, and in much better shape physically than I currently am. It is true what they say that the metabolism takes a sharp decline at 40, not joke there!

I assumed my cholesterol must have been at least somewhat lower but I had no idea that such a drastic change would occur. I believe these Benecol Smart Chews along with the recommended dose of milk thistle and Tudca have played a big part in this incredible drop from a once 200+ cholesterol rating. I haven't grew any younger and my lifestyle is pretty much the same as it was three years ago (if not a little more relaxed) so needless to say, these are products I can highly recommend without prejudice.

Not wanting to resort to "drugs" to manage Cholesterol, I did some research on plant Stanols, and plant Sterols. They both seem to have the ability to lower the cholesterol in your blood. However, based on a Johns Hopkins health alert....plant sterols tend to lose their ability to lower cholesterol, and instead start to appear in the blood them selves. Where as plant STANOLS seem to stay active and continue to lower cholesterol. BENECOL is the only off the shelf item that contains stanols instead of sterols. The Benecol spread is good and tastes fine, but the caramel chews are portable so you can easily take them with you. I would recommend the chews to anyone who wants to keeps tabs on your cholesterol....they are reasonably inexpensive, taste good, and have STANOLS in them...and they are portable. I was able to lower my cholesterol by 80 points by consumming STANOLS and watching my intake of cholesterol....

Many reviews on here go something like this: I used this product for two months while eating healthier and starting an exercise program, and my cholesterol dropped 30 points!

Those are worthless reviews, because there are too many variables. I used this product and did not change anything else. 3 weeks, 2 chews per meal (which is about the whole box). Cholesterol had been consistently at 210, just tested at 181. LDL went from 120 to 107. Triglycerides went WAY down (150 to 70), although I'm not sure why that would be. Just one person's evidence to throw on the pile.

I just started using this, so I can't comment on how well it will work to lower my cholesterol, but I want to alert people to inconsistencies in the labeling. The 120-count package is supposed to be a two month supply. On the front of the box it says "take twice a day to reduce cholesterol." If you consumed two per day there would indeed be a 60-day supply in the box. On the back it says, ". . . can help you meet the National Cholesterol Education Program Guidelines recommended amount of 2 g plant stanols/sterols per day. To meet this recommendation, enjoy 5 chews per day."

Each candy as 0.7 g of stanol in it, so if you had 5 a day you'd be getting 3.5 g, not 2. If you want to get around 2 g per day you have to take three of them (2.1 g), which means 120 of them won't last 60 days. (And if you consume them at a rate of five a day you won't even have enough for a month.)

The research says the minimum effective dose is 0.8 to 1 g per day, and the maximum is 2 g per day; therefore, there's no reason to have more than three of these a day, and less than two a day probably won't do any good. Natural sources of phytosterols don't come anywhere near the recommended intake. For example, a half cup of wheat germ has 197 mg of phytosterols.

They are soft, pleasantly flavored, small, and only 20 calories each. I think they're worth a try.

Yes plant sterols help lower your cholesterol, but why pay top dollar for a product that contains partially hydrogenated vegetable oil?! Get your plant sterols elsewhere.

Scary Cheese Assortment (2 pound) by igourmet

Scary Cheese Assortment by igourmetI got drunk one night and decided (against my better judgment) to order this cheese assortment for my birthday.

We didn't get the cheddar with Thai curry, which I was really looking forward to. It was substituted with cheddar with caramelized onions. The onion flavor was overpowering, the cheese itself was an unappetizing yellow/vomit color, and I did not like. One of my friends, however, loved it and ended up taking the rest of it home.

I had never had mimolette before I got this cheese assortment. It looks like cantaloupe and the rind smells like a corpse that has been rotting in a moldy basement for several weeks. But the taste is really mild and it's actually pretty tasty.

No one could stomach the huntsman. It came triple wrapped, probably so as not to alarm the USPS. My friend ate some on a Ryvita cracker and had to spit it out. In her words, "it tastes like how goat poop smells." It was compared several times to garbage or rotting vegetable matter. I thought it smelled remarkably like durian. I feel I should also point out that the huntsman we received was not bright pink like the picture, but dull orange, almost like cheddar.

The pesto gouda was magical and redeemed the whole package.

The crackers left something to be desired. We received fig crackers which were NOT black and tasted like stale crispy fig newtons.

I give this assortment 3 stars because the gouda was awesome, the mimolette was ok, and it all around just has great entertainment value. Even if no one eats the damn cheese, at least it gives everyone something to talk about.

It says it right in the name. I had to throw the box away before I ever opened it out of fear. It scared the living daylights out of me to even place the order. I'm not sure why I put myself through these things. I'm tired of being afraid.

Sticky Toffee Cheese (7 ounce) by igourmet

Sticky Toffee Cheese by igourmetI had my eye on this cheese for a while because I love cheese and sticky toffee pudding but couldn't justify paying for the steep shipping costs ... Until Xmas. Then when it arrived, I was afraid to open it because I was afraid I wouldn't like it BUT as it turns out, I love it! It's a hard cheese with chunks of dates and brown sugar so if you like sweet-n-salty, this is perfect. I also put it next to a plate of smoked meats, nuts and fruit which all went well together. Wines? Dessert wine for sure but I think it could go well with a light, fruity red. I don't always follow the "rules" when it comes to wine pairings, though. This cheese will always be on my list, though it's an interesting and tasty cheese!

I first purchased this cheese at a local specialty grocery store and what a nice surprise.

I like cheese but I love this cheese. The somewhat sweet with the slight tart of the cheese is simply a cheese I will remember and buy when I can, try it and see.

The Savannah Bee Company 100% Pure Sourwood Honey Flute

The Savannah Bee Company 100% Pure Sourwood Honey FluteI have tried all the current (as of 12/08) varieties of honey that the Savannah Bee Company has to offer. Some I like more than others, but what never changes is the high quality of the honey itself. Any honey lover will appreciate the quality of this honey. This is not the stuff you buy at a grocery store!

Varities offered by national honey producers pale in comparison with the depth of flavor and the raw, fresh from the hive thickness of this honey.

Its worth the price for anyone that can appreciate the difference.

I really like the flavor of this honey. To me, it tastes like anise or fennel (a nice, light licorice flavor). It pours really well from the flute-shaped bottle. I have given this honey as a gift, used it as a syrup on french toast, and cooked it into a Honey-Jager BBQ sauce with some organic apple cider vinegar and a shot of Jagermeister. I've used the sauce on pork ribs and also for dipping eggrolls.

I have only tried the raw Sourwood honey from Savannah Bee Company but I have had 35+ years of experience eating and tasting sourwood honey throughout the SE United States. I lived in Blue Ridge, GA on the Tocca River and had Sourwood trees on my property. The sourwood honey I received from Savannah Bee Company was like no other sourwood honey I have ever tasted. It was actually sour on the initial taste, then bitter on the after taste. It was thick and a rather dark amber color. Anyone that knows sourwood honey knows it is not supposed to be sour. I have never experienced bitter honey before in my life. A small amount of the honey had leaked in the packaging during shipment making unpacking a messy affair. I give this honey 1 star only because there is no lower ranking. If you are thinking about buying this product do yourself a favor and buy from another sourwood producer as well, then taste for yourself the difference.

Vintner's Reserve Shiraz 10L Wine Kit

Vintner's Reserve Shiraz 10L Wine Kit
  • Type:Red
  • Body:Medium
  • Sweetness:Dry
  • Medal Winner:2008 Gold Award
  • Food Pairings:Excellent with pepper steaks and london broils

Winexpert produces several different series of wine kits. Their Eclipse and Selection International series are their more expensive kits, while the Vintner's Reserve series are more reasonable. Nevertheless, all their kits are excellent. Although their more expensive series make the best wines (as one would hope), the wines in their Vintner's Reserve series are still great. The kits in this series are priced in the $60 range. Since each kit makes approximately 30 750ML bottles, this works out to not much more than two dollars a bottle. That's a great bargain for a very good wine.

I made the Vintner's Reserve Shiraz some time ago. It's an excellent, full-bodied wine, with a spicy fruitiness that is pleasant to the taste. Although it begins to develop within three months of bottling, new overtones come out with further aging. I would suggest aging for as much as a year to allow the wine to develop fully.

Like all Winexpert kits, the Shiraz comes with easy-to-follow instructions. The process from initial mixing to bottling takes approximately six weeks. I find that the total time I spend producing wine from one of these kits is three to four hours. Making excellent wine doesn't need to be time-consuming.

Epicurien Espelette Chili Pepper Jelly 4.4 oz

Epicurien Espelette Chili Pepper Jelly 4.4 ozI've tried many different gourmet jams and jellies, especially paired with cheeses. This is my absolute favorite...sweet delicate bite. The spicy is so curbed, it leaves your mouth watering with flavor not burn. I could eat it plain by the spoonful.

Art of Appreciation Gift Baskets Perfectly Pampered Pink Spa Bath and Body Set

Art of Appreciation Gift Baskets Perfectly Pampered Pink Spa Bath and Body SetPurchased as a gift. I was initially hesitant. I normally like to feel and see first hand what I am buying. In this case the reviews seemed positive and I had an extremely hard time finding rose scented items for a very special person. I am still receiving thank yous for the gift after several months. It was worth the price and the items arrived assembled as shown, bow and all. Thumbs up on this one.

We gave this and the diaper bag basket to our daughter in law and the new baby. Both gifts had a good price, and contents were very nice. She seemed to be pleased too. I wish we could have chosen the size of the slippers, they won't be used.
