Palme d'or Pate with Duck Fois Gras

Palme d'or Pate with Duck Fois GrasExcellent!!! Savory!!! Well cooked and prepared. A very tasty food. A great chef's delight. Nothing more needs to be said.

This pate was really good. All my family wanted was "more." It is not quite the fresh pate I had in Paris, but is a good value! My niece wouldn't eat it because the label says it has some pork, but everyone who tried it, loved it. It is the best Canadian pate I've ever had. For the price, I'd recommend it. Anyone on a low fat diet probably has to avoid pate totally. A lot of care was taken by the manufactuer when putting their pate in the jar. The small amount of fat appears as though twrilled from top to bottom on a spiral, which makes it visually appealing. I'll purchase again.

I'm not generally an animal crusader, but this facility brutalizes the ducks they turn into this pate.

Google "fois gras assembly line" for an undercover report on this plant with 8 minutes of horrifying video. If you love fois gras, please check your sourcing so you can contribute to humane farming practices and won't contribute to companies like this one.

If you assumed this was French because it's sold by a company called taste of europe be warned. Imported prices for canadian made goods.

Vino de Milo Dressing - Artichoke Parmesan Pinot Grigio (8 ounce)

Vino de Milo Dressing - Artichoke Parmesan Pinot GrigioI purchased this dressing at a local store and was pleasantly surprised at how good it is. The texture is a little watery for me, but the artichoke flavor is good and the fat/sugar/calorie content is low which is good for you dieters (like me!) I would recommend this dressing, but if you go to someplace like Marshall's or a discount store you can find it a little cheaper than the $5.99 on here. I am looking forward to trying the other varieties!

Rougie Rendered Duck Fat 320g 11.2Oz

Rougie Rendered Duck Fat 320g 11.2OzI decided to be creative with my Thanksgiving turkey this year by using rendered duck fat instead of butter. I was so glad to find this at such a great price! I ordered 2 jars with standard delivery and it was at my door 2 days later! I blended fresh herbs with the fat and worked it under the skin. Wow! This really elevated the taste and gave it a nice crispy skin. The breast meat was so moist and tender--almost steak-like. I can't wait to use this again.

A beautiful fat with no smell. Looks creamy but melts to clear. I've only used it so far for perfectly fried eggs and on a different day for wonderfully fried potatoes, onion and garlic. The color and taste was grand.

Duck fat is an underappreciated cooking fat. Most people tend to shy away from animal fats when cooking, but due to a good balance of Omega-3 and Omega-6 fatty acids and a low glycemic load, duck fat is surprisingly not bad for you. When compared to other cooking oils like peanut or canola oils, duck fat is a much healthier option. You can use it for every day cooking just as you would use butter or any other oil. An added bonus is the uniquely savory but not at all overpowering flavor that this adds to any dish. The fat is surprisingly stable and will last you a good 6 months or more in the refrigerator, plus as an added perk, you can drain it off from whatever you were cooking and reuse it! If you do plan to reuse it though, I recommend straining it through cheesecloth first to remove any particles of meat or other foods. That will help the fat keep longer and prevent it from going rancid. I keep a jar of it around for cooking at all times, and it's my go-to when I need a low simmer or sautee, and especially for a long roast.

My favorite application for duck fat is confit, and having an extra few ounces of this lying around is immensely helpful to fill out the dish and ensure that whatever you're cooking is completely submerged for optimal cooking. While some may be put off by the price, remember you can reuse it, and it's much healthier than a lot of cooking oils.

This was expensive but it was a nice quality and did the job. Made turkey thigh confit very very good. Many compliments!

Not enough wonderful adjectives to describe just how delicious this is.

I used it in eggs, just a tad, and we were high 5'ing this purchase :-)

Soooo highly recommend. It is expensive, but you use very little at a time.

Bloc de Foie Gras de Canard (6.5 ounce)

Bloc de Foie Gras de CanardI'll be short, I would routinely buy this at Costco when they carried it, it was cheaper, but worth it. I'm French, and I grew up on fois gras and this is pretty close to what i remember! Granted its not on par with homemade fois gras, but it's pretty darn close. I'm a bit shocked of the negative review it got. It's pricey with the shipping, but order a few blocs and get your money's worth. Make sure to serve on a chilled plate (or straight from the terrine!)

With all respect, I implore you to use your own judgement and conscious when buying this product, but please understand what it is.

These animals have been force fed by sticking metal tubes down their throats until their livers become 10 times their normal size. They frequently have gashes all over their beaks and throats. The ducks are so frightened of humans that even the few that have been rescued will never let a human touch them again.

Please don't be allow these companies to hide the facts from you, and the facts are unsettling, to say the least. Use your own judgement, but please don't be blind.

Disgusting and cruel. Do not buy this, please. These poor animals are tortured their whole life by being force fed through tubes for the sake of a "good meal"!
