Wolfgang Puck Organic French Onion Soup, 14.5-Ounce Cans (Pack of 12)

Wolfgang Puck Organic French Onion Soup, 14.5-Ounce CansThis soup is terrific on its own, but it is an essential ingredient in various dishes I make, including pot roast.

I use this as the base for a fabulous oven baked delight. I never just use the soup alone...I toast up an english muffin or some nice crusty bread and put it on top of an oven safe cup of the soup, shred some cheese over the whole thing, bake for 10 min...and YUMMM!

If you want an easy french onion soup, this is it. It's also organic and makes you feel a bit better about what went into it in the first place.

I guess they added sugar cane juice to emulate the caramelization flavor that comes from slow cooking onions to perfection. Wrong idea though, this soup instead leaves a sweet flavor in your mouth, as opposed to a more serious, earthy, cognac-reduction flavor that I would expect from an authentic french onion soup. This just a sweet onion soup. Leave the french out.

Very difficult to find a tasty organic onion soup. It is equal to any I have had in a fine restaurant.

Gave it a 4 rather than a 5 as almost every can in the pack of 12 is DENTED. So far no dents so severe that i think it would be dangerous to eat.... but wonder if these are 'seconds.'

I only wish this soup was available in low sodium. I use it for cooking meats, stews, etc. I prefer this brand to most I've used before.

Sherry Wine Vinegar (Vinagre de Jerez) - 1 bottle, 25.4 fl oz

Sherry Wine Vinegar - 1 bottle, 25.4 fl ozThis is a hard to find vinegar that is superior to balsamic especially when rich flavor is needed. While balsamic adds sweetness and a strong vinegar flavor, sherry vinegar is a mild vinegar that adds huge flavor with a depth and richness that is unique. It can be used very much like white wine, but it adds a smooth nutty flavor similar to pecans. This can be used whenever cooking sherry is called for. I like to use it instead of beer to cook turkey brats, and when cooking cut up chicken: cover the bottom of a fry or saute pan, let the liquid reduce while browning each side; it turns out great. I haven't tried it with other meats, such as beef or pork, but I would expect the rich, mellow flavor to compliment those meats as well. The bottles are large, the size of wine bottles, and this will force you to think up ways to use it--lucky you.

I purchased this vinegar specifically for my gazpacho salad, which has been vastly improved! It has a bright, fresh flavour and it makes a great vinaigrette, too. I will always have this in my pantry!

Great purchase. I live in area where Sherry Wine Vinegar is not readily available. So, I was pleased when I received this. It has a beautiful flavor.

The flavor is good, though not as fruity as other Jerez vinegars. The main attraction is having a big bottle so I don't need to ration it. Excellent on vegetables, chicken, and in salad dressings.

Mogami Japanese Toasted Sesame Oil

Mogami Japanese Toasted Sesame Oil 8 fl ozI am only giving this a 2 star review because it is not 100% sesame oil. The second ingredient listed is soy bean oil. For all we know it could be 50-50 sesame oil/soybean oil and the sesame came first alphabetically.

Wine Finishing Sauces by Buckhead Gourmet - Sauce Bordeaux (9 ounce)

Wine Finishing Sauces by Buckhead Gourmet - Sauce BordeauxI absolutely love Buckhead Gourmet sauces. It's very difficult to find a decent bottled sauce that isn't sweet or hot, but savory. The Buckhead Gourmet Bordeaux sauce is wonderfully savory. I've used it on chicken on the grill, roast venison, and many other things, all with wonderful results. It's great for a quick meal that people think you slaved over. For the chicken, I toss the chicken breasts into a bowl with the sauce. Tenderize the breasts a bit with a fork so the sauce can get into the breasts, also. Toss on the grill with a bit more sauce, and serve. For the venison, I simply browned the venison, added the sauce, and cooked until not quite med/rare. It was perfect and I served it with Christmas dinner.

I've tried several of their sauces, and every one has been wonderful. My only complaint is that the sauces seem to be getting harder and harder to find.

Frieda's Mulling Spices

Frieda's Mulling SpicesThis is actually three packs of 3 ounces each, which averages out to about $1.00 per ounce. That's what I paid for it in the local grocery. I was curious, and I love spiced drinks. At that price it is a very good buy (I was paying $2.00 per oz. at the local bulk health food store.) This is easily just as good--but I throw in a cinnamon stick too. I use about one tablespoon for a medium pot and heat it to boiling on the stove and turn down and simmer about 15 minutes. Very satisfying winter drink. If you don't like spices, use less. The cloves can be overpowering. Or add more juice at the end to dilute.
