Banyuls 5 Year Aged French Red Wine Vinegar 750 Ml

Hands down the best vinegar I've EVER tasted. Subtle, nuanced, and compatible with everything. I use it with good quality olive oil (3 1/2 to 1) with kosher salt and white pepper.

This is one of the best red wine vinegars available for those who want something besides the overdone balsamic vinegar. I first tried it at a Williams-Sonoma sale when they stopped carrying it. It has a wonderful flavor so I was pleased to find it on amazon and received 5 star service from Taylor's Market the seller who sent my order much faster than the promised date and very well packed so I recommend this great product and the seller.

I've only put the Banyuls vinegar to use on a few salads thus far, but I'd definitely rate it a solid buy. It's not something I'd drink straight from the bottle, but it's definitely better than the majority of vinegar I've purchased from the grocery store recently.

Wine Shield

After trying the other methods for preserving wine, I can say this one works the best. In order of effectiveness, I'd rank them as 3pump, 2-nitrogen gas, and 1-wine shield. We used to use the pump, then switched to gas. With gas, we'd get 2 or more days out of a bottle depending on the wine. Whites can go a lot longer, but some reds would taste a little different after a day with gas. But with the wine shield, I have gone 4 days or so with very little change in red wines. We refrigerate them after opening and warm them up when ready to drink. The only issue I've found with the wine shield is it doesn't fit as well in some gewurztraminer bottles which are narrower, but gawurz keeps pretty well anyway, so we just use gas for those. We are regular wine drinkers, and polishing off one bottle a night between 2 people leaves me a little fuzzy the next day, and can get pricey. We usually drink a half bottle with dinner, and pair our wines, so we may have 3 open bottles at a time. This has been a great solution, and after 2 10 packs I am sold. I just went for the 130 pack.

These shields are great for saving wine a few days, as if just opened. I'm on my second box of fifty.

The picture is a bit misleading. When I opened the package on arrival, I found fifty loose shields inside, and the insertion tool. There is no separate box for storing the shields. No matter, I used the box from my first purchase for storage.

The Wine Shield product really works. After trying product after product, (Air Cork FAILED MISERABLY and absolutely NO CONFIDENCE), (wine preservers that use a rubberized plug and vacuum pump Ruins the WINE), (inert gas and replacing cork and or used in tandem with vacuum type system still Ruins the WINE), Wine Shield is simple to use and if purchased in bulk can be affordable. After experimenting with a Napa Valley cabernet sauvignon for approximately 5 days, this product proved to me that it really works. Please note that this is exactly the same wine and vintage that I used to test the Air Cork.

After using this product for about 2 months I truly believe that this is the best product for preserving the "taste" of the wine and due to it's simplicity proves to be a reliable product. I now have confidence to leave a partial bottle and return for another taste without surprises.

Lindt Excellence Chilli Dark (Infused with Red Chilli) 3.5Oz

Ok, I'll come out of the closet and admit: I've tried to get used to it, but will never completely embrace a love for very, very dark chocolate. So sue me. It's just too bitter. Too lacking in that luxuriant creaminess which makes me adore milk chocolate -which for afficianados of "real" chocolate, really ain't chocolate at all. Oh, and don't forget the whole cause du jour of the "MUFA's" thing...monounsaturated fats. The stuff that's good for you, I've heard.

THIS stuff is the next best thing. The chili adds a wonderful bit of heat. Just right. The chocolate is slightly less than 50% "dark", if I get the gist of the nutrition label. For me the perfect blend: enough dark to please someone who eats it for health reasons (like THAT was ever why we fell in love with chocolate)...while retaining that lovely, melt-in-your-mouth-feel only something with enough fat can offer.

Heaven in small bites paired with something I relish as I write this: an equally non-snobular red table wine -Kendall Jackson's deeeelish "Summation" (heavier than my beloved Chianti, lighter than Merlot. In short, luscious perfection and balance. When I'm not sure what wine to bring, I can always rely on a KJ!)

Afraid of the dark? Fear not. Lindt's Excellence Chili Dark just might tempt you away from the light.

Not as spicy as I'd hoped, but still a good chocolate. Don't usually see this brand available for sale but definitely still enjoyed it.

I had mixed expectations. On one hand, Lindt does chocolate well. On the other hand, the actual cacao content is on the lower side with something like 47%. I was surprised at how smooth and chocolately the bar actually was. The pepper is just right. It is mellow and bites just a little after the chocolate melts away in your mouth. I have had similar blends at twice the price. For the money, this is a very good deal and a good experience. Try it.

I am not a fan of dark chocolate. In fact, I usually do not eat it but I was intrigued by this flavor. So I got a bar and it is awesome. The chili flavor is slow but brings a nice constant heat especially as an aftertaste. I highly recommend this flavor to people who like food with heat. Even those who may not like dark chocolate.
