Gruyere - Pound Cut (1 pound) by igourmet

Gruyere - Pound Cut by igourmetIf you like cheese and I'm not talking about the kind you mindlessly slap on a hamburger or sprinkle over a side dish at the salad bar you'll love Gruyere.

My wife, who is Swiss, introduced me to Gruyere cheese via fondue (where it's traditionally encountered) when we were living in Europe. But when we had some left over one weekend, I tried a slice of it with a green apple ... and the rest is history. I simply fell in love with it.

Gruyere is a gourmet cheese and it's price reflects that fact. So be careful, it's expensive ... and not for the obsessive calorie counter. But if your pallet is discriminating and you enjoy fine, quality foods, then indulge yourself. You won't regret anything except the fact that you didn't buy more!

PS: Have a good white wine ready if you plan to make fondue, or a good red wine ready if you have a slice with some fruit! Bon Apetite!

Wine-A-Rita CosmoRita

Wine-A-Rita CosmoRitaThe CosmoRita mixed with Cherry wine and blended in my Margaritaville machine is the best wine-a-rita product out there! All my friends love it!!

This can be mixed with virtually any wine. I've had it mixed with champagne, Riesling, and Moscato, and it works well with them all. The price is rather steep, as I paid $7-$8 at a local gift shop.

I thought theses would be cute stocking stuffers but the packaging looks nothing like the photo! Its white and plain, no colorful purple box as shown. Hopefully they will taste good but i sure feel mislead.

Wine.com Especially for You This Holiday Gift Box

Wine.com Especially for You This Holiday Gift BoxLet's start this with Amazon took care of the issue with this product promptly and courteously so FIVE STARS for them. Now the abysmal packaging and quantity/quality of this product. Run, stay away, don't think about it, just keep moving along. Not in a holiday box but in a brown box with a 11"x14" piece of colored paper that can be taped to the front to cover the cellophane. And no little view hole either like the picture. The brown box it comes in is about 5" deep but the interior brown box of contents is supported by 3" of cardboard underneath. The 2" deep contents box has 1" of scrap paper pressing the contents into the cellophane. So what is in that 1"x11"x14"? Not much! 1 packet of hot chocolate for a 6 oz cup? That's like a shot. The littlest 3-4 packages of other stuff not worth mentioning but think 1/3 the size of a small kids lunch bag of chips. The mustard is in a jar smaller than what the airlines serve jelly in. (1 Oz). The cheese wheel is more cardboard and little cheese. The knife to cut the cheese came out of some playdooh set.

Let's just say this isn't worth $5 and due to the packaging, it can't be gifted without shame.

This was advertised as a 2.5 lb gift. The total food was 20.12 oz or half of what should have been in there

The crackers were stale. Why include a small jar of mustard that didn't go with anything? The only decent tasting items were the two (less than an ounce) Ghiradelli candies. Many of the cheese straws were broken pieces.

I consider it to be a total waste of money and false advertising.

There was nothing in the package that indicated who sent the gift. The recipients contacted Amazon who has still not responded. This is quite embarassing. This inferior service does not reflect the usually impecable service provided by Amazon.

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program These were okay, but the cookies were stale, and I didn't like the spread. The nuts were the best part, but I think for the price, it's not really worth it.

Busseto Hot Sopressata (8 ounce)

Busseto Hot SopressataThis review is for the product, not the vendor.

I love the Busseto Hot Sopressata. It really isn't HOT -but it has a wonderful bite and amazing flavor.

I wish I could buy it here -but the $18 shipping on an $8 product is a bit extreme...

Tidings of Joy ~ Small: Christmas Holiday Gift Basket

Tidings of Joy ~ Small: Christmas Holiday Gift BasketI purchased this basket as a Christmas gift for my Aunt. When I heard about the contents I was very embarrassed and disappointed. Looking at the picture there appears to be several items included and at the price I expected it to be better. However, the basket my Aunt received only had a small box of cookies, one pouch of eggnog coffee and some flavored popcorn. It did not have any candies as the description states. Would not recommend this product

Grey Poupon Classic Mustard

Grey Poupon Classic MustardLiving overseas and been craving Grey Poupon. I love using this as a dip for cold cuts not to mention as a sandwich spread. Only complaint i have is the cost of shipping for the item.

How can you go wrong with white wine! My only problem is the squeeze bottle. This masterpiece only deserves a small metal knife and no spatula. It should only be eaten with a piece of honey sweetened ham, with swiss cheese on a rye cracker.

Grey Poupon has star spot in my kitchen. I eat it almost every day and cook with it too. It has a flavor that brightens up everything. Beyond goat cheeses, wine, and quiche, Grey Poupon is something the French can be proud of though its truly underutilized by the average American cook. Some of my favorite pasta sauces include it along with the usual grating cheeses. You'd also be amazed by tofu cooked in a simmer sauce made with the stuff. (I feel the glare of the average french food critic.) Look for some interesting recipes with the stuff and enjoy.

I've never used much mustard, but I've always had a jar of the yellow stuff around for whatever purpose might come up. Then some time ago, I began noticing somewhat humorous TV ads for Grey Poupon. I ignored them, but then one day I picked up a two-jar pack (just like this, except 16 ounces) of Grey Poupon Dijon Mustard made with white wine at my local warehouse club. Wow! This stuff is really impressive and goes wonderfully with a wide variety of foods. Now my usage of mustard has gone way up. It's low in calories, inexpensive and flavorful in a delicious, zesty way. My jars have a little sticker that indicates it picked up a Gold Medal at the Napa Valley 12th Annual Mustard Festival. No surprise! Good-bye yellow stuff.
