Green Apple Riesling (Island Mist)

Green Apple RieslingI am new to wine making this year and purchased this from my local wine/brew shop. Of the three Island Mist kits I have made this is by far my favorite. I'm not really sure how it ages as all 30 bottles were gone in two months (Lots of gifts). Many of my friends/family who don't normally drink wine really like it as it isn't too sweet nor too dry and you can actually taste the apple. Will defiantly be making this one again.

This is by far the best wine I've made. Everyone loves it, makes for wonderful gifts and clears really nice. Will definitely be buying this again.

Fallot Dijon Mustard, authentic imported in metal pail 16 oz presentation

Fallot Dijon Mustard, authentic imported in metal pail 16 oz presentationI have sampled many Dijon mustards, and I must say that this is, in my opinion, the very best tasting Dijon mustard available. While all mustards have a characteristic "heat" to them, many mustards rely solely on that heat to get them by. This mustard has a robust flavor, reflecting a combination of flavorful mustard seeds with a flavorful wine base. In essence, mustard, any mustard, is a combination of ground mustard seed and vinegar. Other spices may be added, and different vinegars may be used, but this mustard from Fallot has what I consider to be the optimal combination of the two main ingredients with no other non-mustard flavors to detract from the primary flavor profile, namely Dijon mustard. This mustard leans more towards the mild side of the heat spectrum, so those seeking a mustard burn on the palate will be disappointed. I have also sampled some of the other fallot mustards with the various additives (i.e. basil, raspberry, honey, etc.) and they are all nice, too, if a bit limited in their usefulness (raspberry Dijon only works with so many dishes). However, this mustard, the plain, original Fallot Dijon, can blend seamlessly into the background of so many dishes. For those of you who seek a proof of these claims, just put this mustard to the simplest and most telling moutarde test there is: vinaigrette. mix a spoonful of this Fallot Dijon with a few teaspoons of wine vinegar, some salt, pepper, and herbs (fresh thyme is always reliable), and about a 1/2 cup of olive oil and you will understand the sublime versatility of this excellent Dijon mustard!

I have ordered this mustard several times. It is pricey but worth it. It always arrives promptly and wrapped securely. This is a great mustard for sauces and salad dressings. I will order it again from this vendor. Their service is very, very good.

Cabernet Pear Tart

Cabernet Pear TartThis tart was one of the best desserts tasted. It has a smooth almondy taste that is delicious with the jelled pears and firm, not too sweet, base. I'd say a European taste extravaganza, utterly, tantalizingly delicious!!

I just tried this tart at Costco and needed to come home right away to clear out the freezer so I can buy a couple tomorrow. It is light and so delicious, very flavorful. The color of the cabernet glaze is lovely and complements the custard and pears. I also fell in love with the mango tart which is even lighter. I'm sold.

Mezza Luna Red (Vintner's Reserve)

Mezza Luna RedThe Vintner's Reserve Series of wine kits from Winexpert provides excellent wine kits at an affordable price. Most of the kits in this series are in the $65-70 range. I have been making wines from kits for six years and have done more than a dozen Vintner's Reserve kits. I have never been disappointed in the results of my efforts.

The kits come with clear, precise, and easy-to-understand directions. Moreover, making the wine is not time-consuming. Each of the four steps requires about half an hour of one's time (with the exception of bottling, which, with the sanitizing of the bottles, will take about 45 minutes). The entire process from the initial mixing to the bottling takes about 6-8 weeks.

I made the Mezza Luna Red some time ago and it turned out well. My preference in a red is toward something a bit drier. However, the Mezza Luna that I made was definitely good, bursting with flavor, and full-bodied. Unlike some reds, Mezza Luna matures fairly quickly and so is ready to drink within just a few months of bottling. I can highly recommend it for those who like something just a bit on the sweet side (although it is by no means overly sweet). It's a good wine to enjoy with pasta dishes.

Reserve Du Chateau 6 Week Wine Kit, Chilean Cabernet Merlot, 55-Pound Container

Reserve Du Chateau 6 Week Wine Kit, Chilean Cabernet Merlot, 55-Pound Container6 weeks into the process, I am pleased with the quality of this still green wine. Took a sample last night. The wine was perfectly clear, so I can't understand why the instructions recommend filtration? The flavor and aroma profiles indicate that after another nine months of ageing this will be a pretty good medium bodied red wine. The specific gravity of the grape juice was right at 1.075, which is the low end of the specification range (1.075-1.090). I added sugar to bring it up to 1.085 before starting the fermentation. Wished the kit contained a package of grape skins.

I purchased this kit for my husband, who is an amateur wine maker. The instructions were easy to follow and the resulting wine is better than those we have purchased at local wineries. As it ages, we expect it to get even better.
