Blackberry Ginger Balsamic Vinegar

Blackberry Ginger Balsamic VinegarI have now become the neighborhood vinegar pusher, ordering by the case for all the people that I have served it to begging for more! My favorite way to enjoy is simple spinach salad with blue cheese, glazed walnuts, red onions and apples or pears marinated in a few drops of this great stuff.

I love this stuff. It's so good you don't need to add oil to make salad dressing. I think you could drink it in small amounts. Also the shipment arrived early and no broken bottles. Thank you for a great experience.

Vintner's Harvest Fruit Puree - Raspberry

Vintner's Harvest Fruit Puree - RaspberryI've used vintners raspberry in beer and as a cider base. Excellent quality and taste. Very satisfied with the outcome.

It arrived on tome and is as stated. It is now making wine. The only thing which I would like to see is how much wine this is supposed to make. I settled for a gallon, but by guess only. Hans Wendler

Cypress Grove, Humboldt Fog Cheese (8oz or 1lb)

Cypress Grove, Humboldt Fog CheeseThis cheese is a favorite in our family, but not usually accessible in our area. This was a gift, a nice surprise and a big hit.

Humboldt Fog is expensive, but worth it! Irresistible flavor, and if it weren't that expensive, I'd buy it once a week and gain 20 pounds.

Humboldt Fog is definitely Cyprus groves best cheese. Its flavor is not for everybody though. It has a light acidity due to the vegetable ash. I like it best after it has aged for a couple of weeks and begins to soften around the rind while remaining crumbly in the middle . This is NOT a blue cheese as other members have stated, so do not expect a blue cheese flavor or texture. It is a soft ripened cheese, the same process used to make cheeses like brie and camembert. The blue that you see in the middle and rind of the cheese is actually vegetable ash. Back in the day the ash was used to cover the morning milk curds until the evening milk curds could be added. Check out Cypress grove website for more info on all their great cheeses.

This is not a value proposition cheese. I buy a supermarket brand chevre priced at eight dollars a pound and I do not think this cheese is 3X better. In fact, in some respects that cheaper cheese is better because it has that "straight from the goat" freshness to it. Yet Humboldt Fog is an excellent cheese. I find the best way to eat it is to find a very plain cracker (not a saltine!), cut off a small bit of cheese and spread it very thinly. This brings out the aged flavor. Great cheese, not cheap.

This is some of the best American-made cheese I've had, as are several other Cypress Grove cheeses. Cypress Grove is easily on par with high-end French cheeses, but that does not mean it's a straight rip-off from some traditional regional French recipe: just as American craft beer brewers have taken the Belgian and German traditions as a basis to create their own variants, creameries like Cypress Grove are coming up with novel varieties.

So what does it taste like? Well, first of all, the basis for this cheese is a creamy chèvre, that is, goat cheese in the French style. It is aged as a whole wheel, so the texture is different on the outside than on the inside. On the inside, what you find is more like an aged French chèvre, whereas toward the outside, it almost approaches the consistency of a goat Gouda. Then there is white mold on the outside (think Brie, Camembert), a subtle hint of blue mold (think Rocquefort, Danish Blue) further in, and in the middle, an ingredient identified only as "vegetable ash." Whatever it is, it's tasty. But not in a "wow I guess this is good but now I cannot taste anything else for a half hour" sort of way. It's just the right amount of subtle.

If you ever want to demonstrate to a Frenchman that Americans can make good cheese, feed them some Humboldt Fog. If they still protest, that's just snobbery.

Albanese 12 Flavor Assorted Gummi Bears, Fat Free, 5-Pound Bags (Pack of 2)

Albanese 12 Flavor Assorted Gummi Bears, Fat Free, 5-Pound BagsOk, so I bought these on a whim, not wanting to pay nearly the same price for a 5lb bag of Haribo. Imagine my surprise when they turned out to be worth the switch. I've been a long-time Haribo fanatic. These gummies, however, while not as hard in texture as Haribo, more than make up for that in flavor.

I normally space my gummy snacking, but could not keep my hands off these. My kids literally inhaled them by the handful. Even my husband was hooked. After reading the label, I felt even better about eating them. They're made with mostly fruit and veggie additives. No HFCS!! Only caveat was the light yellow bears. They're banana flavored, but a little weird at first. The more you eat the more you taste the flavor.

Overall, these gummies have made this Haribo eater a surefire convert. As a matter of fact, I'm on my way to buy more. A warning to the wise: One shipment will not last more than a couple days to one week max. Not saying there's not enough, but these are very addictive. Happy snacking!

Addendum as of 9/5/09: The banana gummies are even better than before and even a little chewier. I also love the new packaging which actually lists the flavors. I've since tried to go back to Haribo and other brands, but to no avail. These gummies are still my fave! Cheers!

These truly are the absolute best gummi bears I have ever had! The flavors are wonderfully intense. They are not waxy or hard, just perfectly soft and chewy. It turns out 10 pounds of gummi bears is even more than I thought it would be. They will definitely last you a good long while! Enough for a whole party of people. Everyone was asking me, "aren't all gummi bears pretty much the same?" but once they started eating them, they couldn't stop either!

First of all, these Gummi's are delicious and fruity and are just the right amount of chewy. But I was most impressed by the fact that my Amazon delivery of them sat on my porch in 100 degree Memphis weather and they did not melt or get sticky! They were a bit squishy when I first opened them but after being inside the house about 30 minutes, they were perfect again! Sounds silly, I suppose, but it is good to know!

These are the best and most flavorful gummy bears you can get. For 2 years i've paid the same price for just 1 pound of this candy from a major mail-order catalogue. This way I get 10 pounds and a few extra flavors I didn't even know they made. I assure you that you will not be disappointed with these.

Kikkoman - Aji-Mirin (Sweet Cooking Rice Wine) 10 Oz.

Kikkoman Aji-mirin, 10-Ounce BottleI'm not sure why, but it seems like a lot of the recipes my friends have for teriyaki sauce are almost exactly like mine. Except for this one ingredient. Then they want to know why mine tastes a lot better. It's the mirin, plus using a bit less sugar because my husband prefers not-as-sweet teriyaki sauces.

For quick meals at home, I just mix the ingredients in a measuring cup, and stir them directly in my wok without making a glossy sauce out of it. For grilling, I cook the sauce and thicken it with corn starch mixed into a couple tablespoons of mirin. We also use mirin for our rice balls to add a little flavor to the rice. This is a nice inexpensive choice for mirin and adds a good flavor. Like vinegar, soy sauce and Worcestershire sauce, it's a staple in my kitchen for homecooked meals.

This is the same brand we buy at the grocery store but Amazon brings it to me at a much better price.

False advertising. This is not Mirin ... or wine ... it's a seasoning. Surprisingly disappointed that this has not been corrected by now.

I used this to make teriyaki chicken. Kikkoman has always been a great brand. You can always notice then difference when you use Aji-mirin.

It's hard to give a product as generic as this five stars, but the quality has been consistent over multiple orders, it is always as described, the price is good, and it is delivered quickly!

Compagnie Coloniale Sencha Calida - Silk Tea Bags

Compagnie Coloniale Sencha Calida - Silk Tea BagsWe found this tea at Taste of Paris in Hamilton, Mt., a new restaurant in our Bitterroot Valley, and bought it there for less than Amazon charges (sorry Jeff!)! It is so much more fragrant and fresh tasting than other green teas that we have had, including a couple direct from Hong Kong via family. Try this tea and you will experience the flavor that you have been hoping for in other teas. IMHO PB

House of Tsang Classic Stir-fry Sauce, 11.5-Ounce Bottles (Pack of 6)

House of Tsang Classic Stir-fry Sauce, 11.5-Ounce BottlesOne of the things I wanted to see more of a selection of in the supermarket was chinese restaurant style sauces...they're simply the best:)Luckily the brand called 'House of Tsang' came out with a wide selection of sauces geared towards asian style meals and one I was thoroughly impressed with was thier classic stir-fry sauce.I must say it's a big improvement over Kikkoman's,In my opinion the House of Tsang is bigger on taste and backs off on the overly salty taste I get from Kikkoman's...Enjoy :)

I love stir fries! It's easy to put together a meal for one in a hurry, and you know what you're getting. I discovered the House of Tsang stir fry sauces several years ago, and got hooked on them. Then I moved, and the local stores around here don't carry this brand.

So, I was *thrilled* to find it here on Amazon. I've been using some other brands, but they just don't have the depth of flavor I get from House of Tsang. The other brands are more expensive, too: up to $8.00/bottle at the store.

This is a basic stir-fry sauce: not spicy, but with that slightly sweet / soy sauce / nutty sesame flavor, with hints of ginger and garlic. I've used it so far with beef, chicken, shrimp, and pork, and it works well with all of those. I usually use either frozen stir-fry veggies, or get a "stir fry mix" from the fresh produce aisle. My tools of choice are a small flat-bottom wok on an induction burner. In about 10 minutes, I have a meal.

Good stuff, this.

I love stir fry, but making it from "scratch" doesn't seem to produce the right taste. This sauce is great -makes everything taste good. I first found it in my supermarket, but since they automatically discontinue whatever I like, they discontinued it now I buy it in bulk, and it doesn't sit around forever!

I'm just starting to get into Asian cooking and haven't been able to find any dark soy sauce locally. ("Regular" soy sauce is considered light soy sauce; dark soy sauce is used for cooking instead of flavoring and is much less salty.)

I was looking at a bottle of this at the grocery store and noticed the following description: "The traditional Cantonese flavor. Distinctively rich and aromatic. A classic blend of dark soy sauce and tantalizing spices. Warm, savory and satisfying."

Dark soy sauce: bingo!

This has improved my fried rice so much that I'm already on my second bottle in just a couple weeks. I just add it to the pan until the rice looks brown enough to suit me. It still doesn't really taste "Chinese" because I don't have a wok yet and much of the trademark flavor of Chinese food is imparted by the high cooking temperature, but it's very good all the same.

Ingredients are as follows: Soy sauce (water, soybeans, wheat, salt, caramel color), sherry wine, sugar, water, vinegar, modified cornstarch, cottonseed oil, sesame seed oil, salt, dried garlic, hydrolyzed wheat and soy protein, dried onions, xanthan gum, natural flavor, disodium inosinate and disodium guanylate, and sodium benzoate (preservative).

Also, the bottle says to refrigerate after opening.

I live in a rural area and can still find this locally for less than $4.00 per bottle, so the price here seems quite high. It's a good sauce for stir-frying, though, so don't hesitate to buy either here or elsewhere if you can afford the price.

I love this sauce for stir fry. I ran out once and tried to mix my own from soy sauce and other home ingredients. Major fail! Nothing can replace this.

Krave Smoked Grilled Teriyaki Pork Jerky (4/3.25 oz)

Krave Smoked Grilled Teriyaki Pork JerkyAll the Krave jerky I have tried I really like. I do stay away from anything I consider spicy, but sweet or savory works for me so I do recommend the Krave jerkys.

Not tough at all. While most jerky is very chewy, this is less so. Nice teriyaki flavor. Everybody here who has tried it, likes it though many comment that it is sweet. Anxious to try their other flavors.

As stated by other reviewers, this beef jerky is very sweet it's almost like teriyaki meat candy. Since it's also very pricey I'd recommend trying a single pack first (also available on Amazon). As for myself, I love it; I don't like tough, overly chewy jerky, and this stuff practically melts in your mouth. It's probably a good thing it's so expensive or I'd never stop eating it.

This is a quality jerky, however you pay for it in the pocketbook. It is different from your usual conventional jerky (soft) and in this particular purchase I got the one I liked the best after sampling others. No bang for your buck :( 3 1/2 oz per pack for $8.07 is not what I consider value for a quality jerky product.

I tried a sample of this at the store and almost spit it out in front of the guy, it was so bad. It was literally as sweet as the gummi-fruit snacks they were handing out at the next table, with a similar texture. I know people are becoming more and more addicted to sweet foods but this travesty needs to end. I tried another one of their flavors, a chili lime I believe, and found it similarly cloyingly sweet. I gave up after that.

Roland Herring Fillets in Wine Sauce, 7-Ounce Can (Pack of 6)

Roland Herring Fillets in Wine Sauce, 7-Ounce CanHerring is herring and I expected it to be soft as it was. The real winner was the wine sauce and crisp onion. Placing it on a thin slice of Pumpernickel so the juices soaked in did much to place me in heaven and seeking more. I ate two cans at one setting before I could contain myself the first time. Note to self: Buy enough to satisfy these gluttony urges founded in gastronomic pleasures so you can save some for later. IT WAS SO GOOD, I BOUGHT A MONTHLY SUBSCRIPTION.
