Hawaii Roasters Award Winning Farm Roasted 100% Kona Coffee, Ground, Medium Roast, 14-Ounce Bag

Hawaii Roasters Award Winning Farm Roasted 100% Kona Coffee, Ground, Medium Roast, 14-Ounce BagSpent $29 for real kona coffee and didn't want the kona blend sold here. The Hawaiian roasters was disappointing. Tasted nothing like the kona we had everyday while honeymooning in Maui. Not good

I have tried a few kona coffees from different vendors, and I can say that this one is a very special coffee. I made an order last year and had some issues with one of the two bags I've bought. The coffee lost it's freshness in the 2nd bag and it was very old, dry and tasteless. I was very disappointed by how the same coffee could taste so different in each bag. I wasn't sure what was the problem, cause the 1st bag tasted very pleasant and aromatic. The freshness, texture and delicacy of the coffee took me to nirvana. I was very pleased with the organic taste and smoothness of the coffee. Immediately I knew that this was a very special gourmet coffee.

I've tried different regional coffees including, papa new guinea, Kenya AA, Sumatra beans, Jamaican blue mountain ... and others. I have to say that Kona is my favorite by far. The shipping bag comes oxygen free when it's being shipped from the vendor. The air is sucked dry to vacuum seal it. Sometimes they get damaged or punctured during shipping. I guess that's what happened to one of the bags. As you know, coffee and oxygen don't go well together, cause once the coffee is oxidized; it starts losing its freshness and it doesn't taste the way it's supposed to taste.

I've made a recent purchase again and I'm very happy with the results. Give this coffee a try before deciding to make a bulk shipment. You have got nothing to lose. Well done Hawaii Roasters. You guys have outdone yourselves.

I enjoyed my 1st cup very much. The aroma was heady and the flavor was pleasantly mild. But, ultimately, it is too mild for my daily morning "kick". I'll be going back to my Lavazza mornings when this is gone.

Gruyere - Pound Cut (1 pound) by igourmet

Gruyere - Pound Cut by igourmetIf you like cheese and I'm not talking about the kind you mindlessly slap on a hamburger or sprinkle over a side dish at the salad bar you'll love Gruyere.

My wife, who is Swiss, introduced me to Gruyere cheese via fondue (where it's traditionally encountered) when we were living in Europe. But when we had some left over one weekend, I tried a slice of it with a green apple ... and the rest is history. I simply fell in love with it.

Gruyere is a gourmet cheese and it's price reflects that fact. So be careful, it's expensive ... and not for the obsessive calorie counter. But if your pallet is discriminating and you enjoy fine, quality foods, then indulge yourself. You won't regret anything except the fact that you didn't buy more!

PS: Have a good white wine ready if you plan to make fondue, or a good red wine ready if you have a slice with some fruit! Bon Apetite!

Love these crackers, not available in the Stores in Alaska. They serve them on Alaska Airlines in their cheese and friut platters. They only give on packet and that not enough, you only want more. Parmigiano Reggiano Top Grade- 3 Pound Club Cut (3 pound)

Parmigiano Reggiano Top Grade- 3 Pound Club CutIs a good choice, taste great and at a reasonable price, if you like Parmigiano Reggiano cheese, this product will meet your needs.

The quality of the 3lb. cut that I received is good, but not great. Few salt crystals and doesn't taste like the high quality product we have come to associate with parmigiano reggiano in the past. I won't comment on the grading because it is labeled parmigiano reggiano (On the label, not the rind) I have purchased better locally and will look to do so in the future.

Clement Faugier Candied Chestnuts Marrons Glaces 19 oz

Clement Faugier Candied Chestnuts Marrons Glaces 19 ozWe had candied chestnuts that came in a box in France many years ago and have since looked for them in the states. This year I searched the internet and wa-la there were some products to try. There were some products more expensive and because the product would be shipped we did not want to be spending a lot for something not that good. These came in a can with syrup which was different than the ones we had had in France but they are excellent.

I used the candied chestnut in a Hungarian torte. First time ever for me, product was bagged and canned. It was most definitely kept fresh! The torte turned out great too!

Roland Giant Snails (12 Count), 7.75-Ounce Cans (Pack of 12)

Roland Giant Snails, 7.75-Ounce CansThese snails are awesome. They are the best tasting escargot I have ever had, at any restaurant, anywhere. I was worried that the giant snails might be too big, and they are larger than any I had ever seen. But they are so tender that you can just bite right through them. These are delicious and I am waiting for amazon to get more in stock so I can order more. I prepared some on a family vacation and parents, cousins, uncles, aunts were all raving over them...even people who didn't know they liked escargot! And, by the way, this 12-pack is the best deal on earth. Order the $5 HIC escargot plate with them, find a butter recipe online, buy some crostinis at the grocery store and enjoy. The little plate fits in my toaster oven and I have wonderful escargot in 5 minutes.

If you were to imagine the biggest, sweetest, most tender escargot in the universe, you'd still be pleasantly surprised after opening a can of these lovelies and baking them gently.

I'm an escargot lover and also a Yankee. The combination of those 2 things has made it hard for me to order escargot in a restaurant. I have on occasion, but $10. for 6 tiny, albeit tasty morsels has caused minor pangs in my Yankee heart. Add to that the trend in the US for more casual dining and even finding escargot on the menu now is less likely than it was 10 years ago. So, not a big deal. Life goes on...no snails for Jo Ana.

Until now. I was doing some grocery shopping on Amazon the other day and discovered the Subscribe and Save program. While checking it out I found the Roland Giant Snails and ordered a box of them, hoping for the best but not expecting the largest snails I've ever seen in my life times 2 !! I'm not a big eater, but 6 of these with a small vegetable portion is dinner for me. I bake them with organic extra virgin coconut oil heavily laced with garlic and WOW ! My first bite reminded me how much I love escargot and the rest of the bites made me very very happy that I'm an Amazon customer who happened upon the Save & Subscribe program!

If you love escargot, you will be very pleasantly surprised with the size, taste and overall yumminess of this product !

If you truly enjoy eating then you will truly enjoy escargot; even though you may not know it if you have never tasted. If you love and enjoy escargot, then I promise you that you will absolutely love this product. These puppies are BIG! Now I know that big does not always mean better, but I have to say I have never tasted better and I have eaten these things in many restaurants, in many homes and locations around the world. I come from several generations of snail lovers and we are all pretty picky!

These snails are tender, not mushy as you often find and if prepared correctly can send you into a state of gastronomic nirvana. A bit of EVOO, garlic and a touch of salt, a dash of wine and a hot oven and you have pure heaven at the table.

I cannot believe the price here on Amazon. I buy this same product at a local store and can assure you that I pay much, much more.

As one reviewer has pointed out, it is very difficult to find these in many restaurants these days. When I was a little girl, traveling with my parents all over the U.S. it was not much of a problem. Times have changed though and if you want a `snail fix,' you are quite often forced to do it yourself. Fortunately that is not difficult if you have a quality product to begin with. It this case, you do.

Whether you buy here on Amazon or buy locally, don't let these slip by you.

Based on reviews, we ordered a case. These are awesome, just as indicated by others. Delicious when heated with garlic/shallot butter; very tender and GIANT. Very minor issues: (1) There were 16 in the can we opened. Since I assume sold/packed by weight and not number, would have been even larger if only 12. (2) strong sulfur smell when opening the can, but easily rinsed off and not apparent in heated snails. (3) I had assumed, apparently incorrectly, country of origin was France. Packaging (but not web site) indicates from Indonesia; I hope better than food coming from China! We will order again.

Growbottle - Basil

Growbottle - BasilI was really excited when I first found this product. It seemed like a great idea and very easy to grow. Unfortunately this was not the case. I followed all of the directions exactly and while the seeds did sprout, that is all they did. After the sprouts were about 1/2" tall, they all died. How sad :(

I bought this as a Christmas gift for someone and she has informed me that the seeds have already sprouted and are doing great!

Vino Italiano 4 Week Wine Kit, Barolo, 15.5-Pound Box

Vino Italiano 4 Week Wine Kit, Barolo, 15.5-Pound BoxFor the price and items included these are great kits. I went by several other reviews and made 5 gallons rather than 6, definitely makes a difference. Instead of using the yeast supplied I get quality yeast that vitners use. For this wine and the Cab I used BM4X4, it does wonders to the wine. Great body and mouth feel. After the secondary fermentation I added Hungarian med+ toasted oak cubes and allowed it to bulk age for three months prior to bottling. Bulk aging brings out more complexity in the wine and because of the size of the carboy the wine is less effected by temperature variations.

After three months in the bottle in a wine fridge at 58 deg the wine is just as good as a $50 Barolo purchased at a wine store. Yeast is everything to the wine, get advice from a winery that produces the types of wine you really enjoy, most will be glad to tell you. BM4X4 only comes in 500 gram packaging so I have enough to last quite a while (I use about 1tsp per batch follow the manufactures instructions to prep the yeast before adding to the must) . Sealed and stored in the fridge you will get your money's worth for the quality of wine it produces. When adding oak, get cubes instead of chips, the chips will be spent in a week, 2.5 to 3oz of cubes in a 5 gallon batch for three months is almost the same as 1 year in a barrel, so taste after the first two weeks for flavor up to the taste of oak you desire. It's better to add more later to taste than add too much and over power your wine.

I've made several batches of wine and the Barolo is by far the best one to date. The Italian Red came out very pleasant, but again, the yeast makes all the difference. To date I've made six of these kits and will continue to do so. I've made kits from other companies, but the price didn't show in quality when a great yeast and the type of oak for the flavor desired is used. Morewine website has some great reading on oak varieties and effect on wine. Do a little research and anyone can produce very nice wines.

These Vino Italiano kits are a great deal plus free shipping, you can't beat it.

I have made a number of them and make 5 gallon instead of 6. It gives a very good robust flavor. I will buy them as long as they are sold here.

I ordered this kit just to try it since the price was so good. I have been making wine for a few years and thought it was worth a try. The instructions are good and easy to follow. When making the kit I did find the SG at 1.080 and the target was around 1.090. It came out a little thin. I opened a bottle las night after letting it age for since 10/10/2009. I was suprised with how it turned out. It was very drinkable. You have to remember it isn't going to taste like a $20 bottle of wine. I would buy it again in fact I have a white wine kit going now and just ordered a more expensive malbec kit to try.

I have been bulk aging this kit, and like others, am having a hard time resisting drinking glasses of it out of the carboy. It has turned out quite well, with a leathery, tobacco-y, dry and full-bodied flavor that is quite delicious. I made it as a little over a 5 gallon batch, as others have suggested. The point of this review is to show you the math/science of you why you too should reconstitute to around 5 gallons rather than 6 as instructed, in order to avoid a watery, light colored wine and instead enjoy rich, bold flavors.

Barolo generally has an alcohol content of 13% http://www.templeofwine.com/content/barolo.

Using a Brix conversion calculator such as: http://www.brewersfriend.com/brix-converter/, you'll see that in order to get a final product wine with about 13% alcohol, you'll need to have a starting gravity of just over 22 Brix or 1.092 SG.

So, if you want to achieve a wine that has the proper alcohol content of Barolo, when you add water to the concentrate in this kit, you should add water a little at a time, stirring and taking measurements with your Hydrometer (Triplescale) as you go along until you reach approx 22 brix or 1.092 SG. When I made it that came out to just over 5 gallons.

One other note about fermenting the juice in these kits is heavily sulfited and adjusted. As a result, fermentation *always* takes longer than the instructions suggest and longer than if you were using fresh grapes or juice. Again, make sure to use your Hydrometer (Triplescale) to measure the SG to determine that fermentation is completely over before transferring to the secondary. In my experience this can be as much as 10 -14 days after pitching yeast.

Want Vino Italiano 4 Week Wine Kit, Barolo, 15.5-Pound Box Discount?

I love this kit, and can tell you this is going to be good with a little aging. Just bottled it today, but always steal a glass of the young wine, and it it already tasty enough to drink and enjoy. I can't imagine the negative reviews for this kit. Either the winemaker screwed something up, or you are too advanced, and thinking you are going to get $200 kit quality out of a $40 kit. I will say without equivocation that this is the best kit I have purchased at any price (my most expensive kit being somewhere in the $120 range.

Like many, I did 5 gal. instead of 6, and I bulk aged an extra 3 weeks, because I think it helps with the degassing. Other than that, I followed instructions to the letter and am chomping at the bit to try this in 3-6 months. It'll be hard to wait.

My only regret, if it can be called that, is that I didn't oak it, but that's not the kit's fault. I will try doing so next time.

If you are a beginner or intermediate kit winemaker, this kits will provide a terrific product at an unbeatable price point.

One more thing: I am very annoyed by the few who didn't do their research, and thought they were getting the wine ingredients plus the equipment for $40. Did you do no research beforehand? Either way, how is your ignorance the mfr. fault?

This kit comes not only with quality wine must, but also with labels, corks, and shrink caps. These ancillaries alone would run you an additional $15-$20.

I can't say enough about these kits. I only hope I don't kill the goose that laid the golden egg by hyping them so much that the mfr. raises the price.

Cornucopia Fruit Wine Making Kit, White Pear Chardonnay, 17.5-Pound Box

Cornucopia Fruit Wine Making Kit, White Pear Chardonnay, 17.5-Pound BoxThis wine actually turned out really well. I made some modifications to the kit however. If you figure out the potential alcohol content, this kit would probably get around 7%, but by adding additional sugar at the primary fermentation, I ended up with 13%. I also didn't use the whole f-pack. It would have been WAY to sweet. Instead, I topped the carboy off with an unoaked Chardonnay that I like.

I would call this a summer wine-light with strong pear notes. Almost clear in color. Nice finish and a good wine for those who don't really like wine.

McCormick Slow Cookers Dry Seasoning Mixes

McCormick Slow Cookers Hearty Beef Stew Seasoning, 1.5-Ounce PacketsWhile beef stew is almost too easy to make, I will admit to not being great at replenishing my seasonings supplies as needed. Because seasonings and spices/herbs are so expensive, I keep putting off purchasing them and the list to replenish them just keeps getting longer and longer. Eventually, I don't have anything with which to work. As such, I planned 2 6-qt crock pots of beef stew for over the holidays to always have something hearty and warm on hand for family as they came/went. Lo and behold, when I finished cutting up all the meat and veggies and loaded them into the crock pots, I had nothing on hand to actually flavor those main ingredients. So, sent hubby off to the grocery store for a quick cheat...McCormick's beef stew seasoning packets. Of course I never told him how many to get, and as he wanted to 'do it right the first trip', he got a handful of them. Actually, in error, he grabbed the ones I'd never seen before: the "SLOW COOKERS" item. Man, oh, man! To heck with buying expensive, one-jar spices to keep on hand for this meal. This product worked perfectly! Open packet, mix with 1 1/3 Cups water, pour over ingredients in crock pot, mix it up just once and let the cooker rip for a few hours. The stew was excellently cooked, beef was so tender one needed a spoon with which to lift it otherwise it would break apart and the veggies were tender but not mooshy. It was more than flavorful; the au jus was not too thick and not too thin perfect for sopping up with homemade bread that, unlike my spices, is always available in this house.

I liked it so much, as did the family members, I'm back to purchase the pack of 12 here to keep on hand as well as the "SLOW COOKERS" for pot roast. I confess, for these two meals from now on, I'm being lazy, but quick and efficient. No serious measuring, no countless bottles of assorted spices, no mess and a tremendous result.

NOTE: I did use 2 packets for each 6-qt slow cooker for although there is an easy recipe on the reverse of the packet, I don't measure my meat and veggies. I use what I have on hand and once the crock pot is at least 3/4 full, that's when I usually throw in my seasonings. The recipe provided would not be enough for my family. I didn't notice any additional recommendations on the packets indicating how much for what size slow cooker. I began with just one packet dissolved in the recommended 1 1/3 Cups of water (I used boiling water to dissolve it quicker add some warmth to the slow cooker as it begins cooking), but after pouring it over all the meat and veggies in the first pot, I just didn't think 1 packet was enough as my family likes a lot of the 'gravy'. Therefore, I added an additional prepared packet to each 6-qt crock pot which gave me perfect results.

This product uses only natural spices, no MSG, 0g trans fat per serving and no artificial flavors.

Edit: 1/2/10 Another batch made for New Year's...this time, I reduced the amount of water per packet to 1 Cup (vs 1 1/3) and got thicker, more substantial 'gravy' vs the usual 'au jus' consistency. The family liked it much, much better that way.

This packet makes excellent pulled pork. It calls for a 3lb boneless pork shoulder roast with most/all of the fat trimmed off, 1/2 cup ketchup, 1/2 cup firmly packed brown sugar and 1/3 cup cider vinegar. Mix up the sauce, place your pork roast in your crockpot, pour sauce over, cover and that's it! You can cook your pork on high for 4 hours or low for 8 hours.

If I'm going to be gone slightly longer than 8 hours then I take the pork roast out of the freezer the night before and the next morning put it in the crock only partially defrosted. This seems to help keep the pork more moist if its going to be cooking more than 8 hours on low. Because usually if I'm gone for work, I'm going to be gone at least 9 hours and sometimes as much as 10. If you're going to be cooking the 4 hours on high or 8 hours on low then I recommend that the roast be completely defrosted because you want it to cook thoroughly enough that it's "pull apart" done.

I make this exactly as the recipe says except instead of regular brown sugar I used Splenda blend. I thought the ratio between meat and bbq was perfect using two pounds of meat rather than three. If you use 3lbs and you like your bbq pretty "saucey", I'd add a couple of tablespoons of water to the mix to make it stretch a bit further.

If you decide to cook this on high, I recommend using 1-2 tablespoons of water to keep the bbq sauce from scorching because generally I cook this on the low setting for 8 hours and once I let it go almost to 9.5 hours because I was late getting home and the sauce got kind of coagulated. That was fixed by adding just a bit of water and it was still fine but it might scorch if you are cooking on high and leave it longer than the 4 hours the recipe calls for.

This is a great summertime meal! I serve it with cole slaw or potato salad or macaroni salad and corn on the cob. It's fast and doesn't heat the house up and no hovering over a hot stove.

One last thing, I HIGHLY recommend using a crockpot liner when cooking this. I ran out the last time I cooked this and ended up having to soak my crock overnight and still had to scrub a bit to get the baked on sauce off of it.

Buy McCormick Slow Cookers Dry Seasoning Mixes Now

While I prefer the old fashioned way of making pot roast in the crock pot, on occasion, I don't have all the ingredients handy and/or I'm in a hurry to get it done. This is a lifesaver on a hectic day. It is flavorful, easy to use, and gets the job done. Food tastes great. The family does like a lot of & thicker 'juice', so the second time around using this product, I used 2 packets and reduced the required water by a little...well, the pot roast and veggies were stellar, although a bit 'peppery hot'. I can't explain the reason for it other than I didn't use all the recommended water for the product, but it was as if I accidentally dumped a whole pepper shaker full of pepper into the pot. The meal was edible, and on a cold, Nor'Easter night it was comforting but it also helped drain all our sinuses....word of caution: stick to the instructions on the back of the packet. I'll continue using 2 packets vs 1 for my pot roasts, but will most definitely use the recommended amount of water from now on.

p.s.I also love McCormick's Slow Cooker Beef Stew packets for the same reasons mentioned above, but I've not yet messed with those instructions!!!

We purchased this from Amazon as our local store was only carrying this occasionally. It is the exact same product. It is a fast dinner that you can throw in a crock pot and do the rest when you get home. My family loves this. We have a problem, half the family cannot have dairy products, so we make the first part which is dairy free. Then we split it in two and add the sour cream to the one half. Both ways are very good. I chop the mushrooms finely and our picky eaters never know they are in there. I put the entire thing over egg noodles to complete the meal. We usually use two packets to make a double recipe because it gets eaten so fast. We never have any left overs. I highly recommend this product. McCormick has a real winner here.

I really like this mix. It is convenient and flavorful, and is great to add to pot roast when you are running out the door. I also use a packet of this mix when I am slow cooking oxtails. I like my sauce thick, so I use less water than the recommended 1 cup. I use about a 1/4 cup of water because the pot roast & veggies are going to sweat in the slow cooker anyway.

The elderberry jelly is as tasty as it is pricey. I liked it and it was something different to try.

I probably wouldn't get any more unless as a gift for someone else though.

Good but not great. Reminded me a little bit like mom's but a stronger citric acid taste. Expensive.

New Brewers Complete Homebrew Beer Making Kit by Monster Brew

New Brewers Complete Homebrew Beer Making Kit by Monster BrewIn general, I'd recommend that you would go to a local brewing store and work out exactly what you need and want to get started brewing your own beer. You'd likely end up with a setup that is pretty similar to this one. That leaves price and flexibility as the main issues. Glancing at a brewing catalog, it looks like this setup isn't a bad deal pricewise. And of course if you don't have a local brewing store, then buying this one is that much easier. Do compare the items included in any of these kits, there are a lot of them listed on amazon, some for as little as half of the price of this one. And remember that you can save a lot of shipping cost by buying kits without bottles. Use your own collected bottles.

Ordered and received kit in Jan 2011. Started brewing March 3 2011, drank first bottle around April 4. Bavarian Hefweizen, very good taste, about 5-6 percent alcohol or 10-12 proof. Must follow directions and keep everything clean. Quality kit contained everyting to make your first brew, but I've added a few things like hops bags and thermometer and extra bottle caps. I do not recommend buying inexpensive kits. I also recommend buying "Joy of Home Brewing" to go along with the kit. The kit directions are basic, the book has helpful tips. The price I paid was better than what I would pay locally, in this area, by about $40. I prefered new bottles, as I didn't want to mess with finding and cleaning bottles with non twist off caps. Extra 12 oz. bottles run about $12 for 24 bottles. First batch figures out to about $3 per bottle, which includes the cost of the kit. After that it's about 50 cents a bottle. As a side note, I started my second batch May 19. Enjoy! :)

I bought this for my husband for Christmas. It had a broken hydrometer and we still haven't received a replacement.

Overall a great kit, but it came shipped with a broken Hydrometer and siphon... been unable to contact the company to get it replaced. I couldn't wait any longer so I made my first batch this weekend and I had everything I needed for the first part. I'm going to have to get creative with the transfer from the one bucket to the other. Would be a 5 star if the parts were packaged better or they would respond to the broken parts.

Coffee Carte Noire Authentic Imported French Gourmet Coffee 250 g (8.8 oz)

Coffee Carte Noire Authentic Imported French Gourmet Coffee 250 g, ThreeNot knowing this was a Kraft Foods brand, we bought this in Paris and brought it home to the US. It is one of the best whole bean coffees we have ever had. I just wish our local stores sold it.

Not too bitter, with a very complete taste. I like more flavorful, and he likes bitter we both loved this coffee. Highly recommended.

Came across this coffee in a hotel in Kazakhstan during a business visit. Really enjoyed it ,but it is not available in Australia to the consumer. Found it on Amazon, and now have it every morning. If you like coffee with real "guts" and a bit of flavour but none of that bitterness, this is the one.

We have tried many coffees and a number of home coffee makers but have been unable to brew anything to match the quality of the coffees we enjoy in our favorite restaurants. But this morning we tried the Carte Noire given us as a Christmas gift. What a delightful surprise. It has that "blackness" that we associate with good coffee but none of the bitterness. It is unquestionably the best coffee we have ever made at home. And with a small addition of Irish Creme syrup (another Christmas present), it was simply quite wonderful.

I haven't ordered this from Amazon, but can certainly vouch that this coffee is without a doubt the best! It is a pity that it should be so pricey online while you can get a three pack in a regular supermarket in France for less that 10 euros. Quite shameful, really...

I found Carte Noire in France in 1993 and started bringing packages back with me three or four times each year. What captured my attention so firmly? What makes this coffee so great?

It is unusual simply because: (1) It is 100% Arabica; (2) It is 100% Colombian. (3) It is roasted by the French. There is only one other coffee with this particular rare pedigree, and it is good, but not quite as good as Carte Noire. Amazon's ad terminology calls this an after dinner coffee. I disagree with them. We have always used it exclusively in the morning, as do the Europeans who value its rich taste.

This coffee is bold but not overpowering. It avoids giving you a thin or a bitter coffee taste. One package of 250 grams (very finely ground) will last for exactly five days when brewed in a 12-cup pot. My coffee philosophy is this: If you're going to drink coffee, buy and drink the best one you can find anywhere. This is it. I wouldn't lie about something this important.

i bought this as a gift for a friend who broke her ankle. She lives far away and I couldn't be there to help her out, but this was a really nice way to let her know I was thinking about her. We are both Italian and love to cook, so this was the perfect gift! I was happy to find something that wasn't the typical gift basket. Flowers are lovely, but soon die. This is a better way to lift someones spirits a little.
